@GBApples Can't remember a season quite like it for codling, we have had 4 generations this season. At least something has enjoyed the weather 😭

🍏🌿 The reality of farming: just days before the harvest, some of our growers have detected codling moth 🐛 Codling moth caterpillars can be a pesky problem, even at this late stage in the season 🍎🤞 Nature always keeps us on our toes! 🌳 #OrchardWatch #BritishApples

@rjmitch21 This is what happens when food security is offloaded for the supermarkets to deal with rather than defra doing their job properly

Production across most produce sectors in the UK is in decline. We are exporting our food security far and wide off these shores. 🧵

Overwhelmed by the comments following yesterday's tweet re shreading blueberries. There are 2 separate issues here. Firstly the cost of production over many sectors of produce not just blueberries has made it unviable. We have many fallow areas of production this year as sho🧵

Well, right on time…apple scab popping up in my untreated apple trees. The brown fuzzy spot in the 1 o’clock position on this otherwise healthy looking apple leaf…🍎

@GBApples Is this a case of @Tesco utilising the public goodwill towards British farmers and claiming to support British growers whilst all the time selling cheaper imports not grown to our high standards? Surely not...

@FruitandVineMag @GBApples What would be really helpful is what proportion of total sales are British. This would highlight which retailers are really supporting British Growers and which are paying us nothing more than lip service.

@AlastairLarge @Morrisons It's not surprising really when David Potts gets paid £4,100,000 in a year. There can't be anything left to pay fruit growers for their apples. It must be why they are paying 10p/kg less than last year.

@GBApples @BBCTheOneShow Would the BRC like to explain how the supermarkets only make 1 - 2 pence a kilo when they are paying 80p/kg and selling for £2/kg? James came across very well explaining the bleak future that the top fruit sector is facing #saveourorchards

@GBApples How is this holding supermarkets to account? The data is useless unless you include the total volume of apples and pears sold by the supermarket, not just British fruit
