Commissioners Mkhwanazi is talking about Training of Officers at EMPD. Let's not forget they appointed Tsakani Matlala's company Buena Vista Learning Academy which was a Chisanyama just before the Tender was issued. I can't wait for him to be grilled on that. #MadlangaCommission

Nine Bultfontein Police Officers Granted R3,000 Bail Each in Four-Murder Case Nine members of the South African Police Service’s Public Order Policing (POP) Unit were released on bail of R3,000 each on Monday, 13 April 2026, after appearing in the Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court. The officers, Sergeants Edward Mokake (45), Shadrack Kabuza (45) and Tseliso Mohoboko (44), along with Constables Johannes Mohau (30), David Mofothi (31), Lebohang Senxesi (34), Ikaneng Maropeng (42), Teboho Monaune (37) and Lehlohonolo Morapedi (38) face four counts of murder. The charges stem from a fatal shooting on Sunday, 22 September 2024, in Phahameng Township, Bultfontein. According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), the officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving members of the Maleka family. When police attempted to apprehend those involved, the family members allegedly locked themselves inside a house and barricaded all entrances. Officers then carried out a tactical entry, during which they discharged their firearms. Three civilians, Mmota Maleka (36), Lobisa Maleka (28) and Andries Maleka (30) and a fellow police officer, Constable Mojalefa Borole (30), were killed by gunshot wounds. Forensic investigators recovered 43 empty cartridge cases from the scene. The nine officers were arrested on Saturday, 11 April 2026, following a prolonged IPID investigation. They appeared in court on Monday and were granted bail. The case was postponed to 26 May 2026 for the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine the trial forum (High Court or Regional Court). The officers remain suspended pending the outcome of the criminal case.

Soldier gunned down. Wife among the accused. Court delays again. A 54-year-old man from Kurhula Village was allegedly killed in a planned hit. Police say the plot came from inside his own circle. Four suspects appeared in the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court as the case deepens. The accused are Daniel Dan Lubisi, Grace Nomthandaza Mazibuko, Sam Masangu and Amos Bvuma. Investigators allege Lubisi pulled the trigger with help from Bvuma, while Mazibuko, the soldier’s wife, and Masangu coordinated the killing. The soldier was shot dead on 28 May 2025 while travelling to work. Police recovered a firearm believed to be the murder weapon and 14 rounds of ammunition during arrests on 18 November 2025. Lubisi has dropped his bail bid. Mazibuko and Masangu are still pushing for bail. Home Affairs has blocked Bvuma’s ID over claims it was fraudulently obtained. The case was postponed to 6 and 7 May 2026.
