@Nerdcognito WotC is just finally doing what they have been failing to do since they released 3e back in 2000. Personally I see it as a potential boon because with any luck it will draw off a bunch of the shallow pond scum that has polluted the hobby over the last few decades.

D&D Beyond announced the full 2026 platform rebuild with new navigation, journals, and shared dice in Maps VTT. The WotC digital push is killing tabletop soul. Classic Gaming and the OSR sticks to paper and dice; this allows for more creativity. Is this a boon or betrayal?

WotC figured out they don’t need accountability. Change the faces, roll out legacy names, smash the reset button and people just go along with it. That’s the incredible part.

It's marketing. They've done it before: Ravenloft, Dragonlance, etc. They promote a tie to the old days, and old players shell out money. Then all the old players hate what they did with the old thing. The worst part is that everybody keeps falling for it. Every. Fucking. Time.

@MinisterDungeon THAC0 is damned simple, but it is part of a shit system. Any game with that system (regardless of the name on the cover) at this point needs to be burned to the ground.
