My read on this is Trump is done with this war. He never intended for there to be boots on the ground. So the choice is now simple for Iran — open the strait and agree to no nuclear weapons or the US will destroy all their oil/energy and just leave, which will be so economically devastating for Iran it will probably be the end of the Islamic regime anyway.

This is a masterclass in diplomatic dishonesty. NATO is a mutual defense alliance not a blank check for any war Trump decides to start.
