@TeeMacTV @pr0ud_americans @MagaGrunt1 Umm… not when I worked there, back in the day and teens that I do know work their now! But you keep telling us about polite society.
English

@pr0ud_americans @MagaGrunt1 We serve ourselves at fast food restaurants. Order, pick up, eat, clean up. Anyone who needs this explained to them do not care to participate in a polite society.

McDonald’s tray etiquette, what’s the actual rule?
Saw a situation the other day where a group finished eating, left their trays on the table, and headed out.
An older customer stopped them and called them “disrespectful” for not cleaning up after themselves. It escalated quickly.
I’ve noticed people usually clean up after themselves pretty well, and then McDonald’s staff wipes down the tables. So it surprised me when this turned into a confrontation.
Is there an unspoken standard now where customers are expected to fully bus their own tables? Or is it still expected that McDonald’s cleans up after customers?
Curious what everyone thinks, do you usually clean your own tray at McDonald’s or just leave it?

English

@Acyalone @pr0ud_americans Well it isn’t usually expected McDonalds. I remember the training I had as a teen and it was either the cashiers job or the bussers job (the person who is hired to make sure the restaurant is clean. Those are there to offer you the option to help keep our store clean.
English

@pr0ud_americans When did this ever become a question? Fast food dining areas always had the tray area on top of the bin--it was always a given that you bussed your own tables. I image that group in the picture left a big tip then?

English

@GreyWolfV2 @pr0ud_americans Hmm… cleaning up afterwards when expected to is a good idea. I mean when they make it obvious you are supposed to, then do it. Since the cashier sometimes is responsible for that if she is busy the tables won’t get cleaned and you won’t have a place to eat.
English

People have jobs and are paid to look after the tables. if you take away your garbage and too many others do, someone looses a job. With the job situation we have right now, leave the garbage on the table, and tell those stupid people to mind their own business!! A big company trying to make extra money by using us to bus our own tables. RETARDED!!
English

@pr0ud_americans I don’t think there is. When I used to work there is my teens some customers would leave their food at the table. Since I was the cashier I would buss the tables. If there was a buss person they would do it for me.

@BozanicBre93075 @craigaemery1 @lady_valor_07 @craigaemery1 see what I mean, this is putting lipstick on a pig. Having waiting staff on slave wages is a virtue that must be protected like some kind of national treasure. Dumbest cunts on earth.
English

@craigaemery1 @3rdEyeWiseguy @lady_valor_07 That is great, we have one too, but that doesn’t include servers who are offering a service.
English

@3rdEyeWiseguy @lady_valor_07 As of 1 July 2025, the national base minimum wage in Australia is about $25 per hour before tax for adults. Casuals get +25% loading on top of that.
English

@craigaemery1 @JakeLivernois @lady_valor_07 Well that maybe so, but it is what it is. So that is why the tip is important. That is why a lot of companies (restaurants) have moved towards just adding it to the bill as the gratuity fee and then you can tip more if you want.
English

@craigaemery1 @lady_valor_07 That isn’t the same as in the US. If you don’t tip, their kids may not eat. The servers make very little an hour. Maybe $1.50-$2.00 an hour. All of their money comes from tips.
English

As an Australian, I find tipping offensive. A “tip” should be what it used to mean - an above and beyond ‘extra’ for above and beyond service. As a service user I am giving the service the honour of my patronage, they should be grateful. It is not my role to pay or supplement the wage of an employee. That’s what unions, minimum wages, and enterprise bargaining are for. If the business doesn’t pay their staff enough then I should reconsider giving them my custom. This is an indictment on the working conditions in a country, that requires this. Otherwise only the rich can afford to go out, and small businesses will be forced to close. It’s a fundamentally flawed system.
English

@Expat471 @lady_valor_07 Yes it is a service you pay for. They aren’t doing it for free.
English

@lady_valor_07 Why should a tip, if one is to be offered, rely on the cost of the meal? The tip is SUPPOSED to be all about the SERVICE.
English

@lady_valor_07 No that is no where big enough tip. Why is it that people don’t understand they divide the tip up with the buss person and maybe even more than one. They make nothing (basically) in salary. They make all of their money in tips. So you may have giving her $10 on a $500. Crazy…

@CBSNews I hope it’s made clear how little we need England for anything whatsoever. I’m sure Trump will be respectful though, unfortunately.
