Trev Alberts should be fired if Texas A&M had any common sense. They just lost a top 3 coach to a rival and missed on every major candidate for his replacement.

Jim Schlossnagle pulled me and two of my teammates into the outfield after we lost the Norman regional in 2006, made us write the date 6/4/06 in our hats, and wear them to remember what that day felt like. He turned the program over to us, entrusting us to bring out the best in every single one of our teammates. Jim Schlossnagle has an intensity and a passion for the game that is unrivaled. The sacrifices he made for the programs he’s led speak for themselves. He lives for the game, period. Schloss was a tough guy to play for… for certain types of player. The ones that didn’t take academics seriously. The ones that showed up late to workouts. The ones that missed meeting. The ones that didn’t bust their asses every single day. The ones that weren’t accountable to their teammates. The ones that were soft. Things got heated between us a couple of times, and I’m grateful for those moments, because they only cemented just how fierce of a competitor he is. He pushed me to be the best. Jim Schlossnagle demands excellence, he expects discipline, and knows how to turn boys into men. This is why he was chosen to run the premier program in all of college baseball. He is human, makes mistakes like all of us, but when you put all the bullshit aside, he knows how to win baseball games. #winnerswin

@VolPorc @RyanTargac @TrevAlberts Understand where you come from, just try to be open minded and understand this was a very hard spot for him as a father and a young coach. Also he had no idea if his best job would be gone with the new coaching staff.

@VolPorc @RyanTargac @TrevAlberts Father of young kids trying to maintain a high level in college baseball and keep a job. Schloss gives us even a week of notice he never leaves. Best part of this is if the players who hate Texas want him back they understand and know his importance.

The call had been made or he would have made better choices during Games 2 & 3. It was obvious, he was not in the park and already in austin...f him!

@rcb05 Your insecurities (unsurprising as a fan of a second tier program) shine through here. What makes you think Schloss or Texas were in any way communicating before the Pierce firing? Does dreaming up a conspiracy theory deaden the pain?

It’s a business, and I get it if Schloss wanted to make a move. But you know he could have had Texas delay the Pierce firing until after the national championship game if he had wanted to. Leaving is one thing. Being complicit in creating a distraction for your team as they’re trying to win a title is quite another.

Earlier in the game, the crowd appeared to turn on their own team when Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington mocked Clark after being fouled. Carrington was seen flailing her head in an effort to mock Clark which prompted some boos from the stands.
