Thank you for the opportunity to discuss a topic which we strongly believe more people should be educated on. Thank you to everyone who responded to us! We appreciated the input that was shared. @OJEN_ROEJ #ojenroejsp22

@Darrah_Smith @OJEN_ROEJ Is there any proof to backup your statement on why employers would be reluctant to hire those living in tiny homes? From what we understand, employers don't hire based on living conditions. Furthermore, living in a tiny home shows responsibility as since it shows... (1/2)

@Darrah_Smith @OJEN_ROEJ Tiny homes are cost efficient. The person living in the tiny home can work while having a shelter to go back to. If they eventually gain enough money then they can move on to buying a home. However, for now they need a dignified, safe place to live. @OJEN_ROEJ #ojenroejsp22

@fhaque3681 @OJEN_ROEJ Exactly, everything comes with a cost. Including allowing encampments. There are no free solutions. We're saying that encampments aren't a permanent solution we're suggesting a better one with the tiny homes. Like I asked before, do you have any other solutions? @OJEN_ROEJ

@WMTDebatePro @OJEN_ROEJ I like the idea of tiny homes, but at the same time the funding to execute this would be expensive, to me, it looks like one tiny home per person and that would take many years to complete as there are hundreds of homeless people in Hamilton.

@OJEN_ROEJ In the heart of Hamilton we have a massive homeless population. People need somewhere to go, and if encampments are what works for now, so be it. Encampments aren't the end all be all, but it's a place to live. #ojenroejsp22

Homeless people deserve a better solution than a park where there are numerous safety concerns We need more job opportunities (for economic growth), free education, and health care (mental and physical) Canada can do more for their charter rights than letting them live in parks.

@CentralPeelLaw @OJEN_ROEJ This is exactly the point we're trying to make. If you're trying to argue that shelters are less safe, there needs to be similar data showing that encampments are more safe. Otherwise it's not a fair comparison. @OJEN_ROEJ #ojenroejsp22

@WMTDebatePro @OJEN_ROEJ moreover, their is a lack of research and surveys done on people who live in encampments. who would fund that? the government who doesn't want them there? sometimes the lack of data is more shocking than data that exists. (2/2) @OJEN_ROEJ #ojenroejsp22

The very reason why we have tent encampments it's because of a wrongdoing of the system. If people aren't able to feel safe in homeless shelters, where else are they meant to go. In 2016, 37 people were attacked and died in homeless shelters. (1/4) @OJEN_ROEJ #OJENROEJSP22

@Darrah_Smith @OJEN_ROEJ It's easier said than done. Are you saying that until homes are built for those who are homeless, do you think there's no other solution? We don't believe that unfettered encampments are the only alternative. @OJEN_ROEJ #ojenroejsp22

How are we expected to encourage people to go to shelters once evicted where their lives are at a greater risk than when they live in encampments? (2/4) @OJEN_ROEJ #OJENROEJSP22
