The brightest of lights has gone out in the Lambourn valley with the awful news that we have lost the lovely Miriam Francome who brightened the lives of everyone who knew her. She was in turn beautiful, fun, witty and kind. Now wonder we all adored her.

Very irritating that tracks are getting away with misleading going descriptions. We declared to run a horse at both @UttoxeterRaces yesterday and @Chepstow_Racing today with the ground supposedly soft at both yet the jockeys are saying it is heavy ground!!!

Would it have made more sense to identify, say, a dozen owners whose horses have suffered career-ending injuries & give them the credits, to encourage them to stay in the game? People whose horses are doing very well are likely to stay involved anyway, bonus or not, aren’t they?
