@Gsjm19 @AGrossNewsday Again, good point. I just watch early pulls result in teams being MORE defensive to protect concessions vs the let's go for it intention. Watch the tape. Maybe the right decision, but maybe the wrong execution. I dont know, but maybe the GOAT can clarify

@Gsjm19 @AGrossNewsday I respectfully disagree. But I get your point. When you empty your net before the other teams feels threatened, you dont gain an advantage... you create chaos and your own team to scramble to make sure you dont concede. Perfect example tonight. Or maybe you just started watching?

@Zip33 @AGrossNewsday Did you only start watching hockey this week? Dont put your players at risk for what? Lose this game and its basically over…what are we saving them for? There is no difference between losing a game by 2 or 5 goals you might as well go for it

@Gsjm19 @AGrossNewsday Its over, why make players feel worse. You got Schaefer playing goalie and diving and blocking picks with your hands. If its not a two goal game... stop putting your players at risk

Almost every #Isles game this season has been a 3-act drama, some with OT. Except tonight. Almost every loss in the last six weeks has felt like the end of the world, and so far they have always bounced back. Tuesday in Buffalo presents a massive challenge. It’s moments like these when you learn about your head coach. Patrick Roy needs to find a way. It’s a brutal business. A very good, Cup-winning coach just got fired. Plenty of coaches would kill to have the opportunity to coach Matthew Schaefer. The NYI job has now entered the category of “great” coaching jobs in the NHL. It hasn’t had that reputation since I was in high school. I’m still rooting for Roy. I’d love to see him be the coach still standing when this team contends. I also believe he’s back next season whether they crap out or win playoff rounds. But this is a stretch that will define him. Can I say one more thing? To all the good people in Lou’Anon or still trying to win a contest to prove that Schenn was an overpay — I get it, we get it — can we please drop the algebra and schtick for just a few weeks? Heck, I was bummed by the NJ trade but even I’ve tried to convince myself that Darche got Palat for the pa-layoffs. There will be plenty of time to second-guess, whether it’s in two weeks…or after the first round of the playoffs…or the second round…or Might as well enjoy the ride.

#Isles play pretty tight defensively yet Ilya Sorokin is still the difference. Magnificent. Said on the Den show last night they’d finish 7-3-2 and make the playoffs. That’s one. It’s a start.

@Boily13M @IslesFix They are as good as every Eastern conference team on any given night. Now, beating the West, maybe you're right... but that gauntlet could produce surprises. There is no series in the East that's scary, and if they did their business at home, they would be home in the 1st round

@Nige_S4 @Magpie24_7 There's a difference between diving & making a "meal of it." IMO, this was theatrical after the fall. I dont view that as simulation, just what the rules have encouraged. I would love 2 see post-match cards given out 4 simulation, lets start making people miss games 4 theatrics

@Zip33 @Magpie24_7 That doesn't explain the rolling around clutching his shin, and then complaining when he didn't get a penalty. Clearly played for it, and took a dive

The dust has settled at Stamford Bridge, and while the 1-0 win shows the world that this Newcastle United squad has more heart in its little finger than the 'billion-pound bottle jobs' combined, we need to talk about the absolute circus act refereeing the game and the clown in the opposition dugout. Once again, we find ourselves dissecting a performance from the officials that didn't just border on incompetent—it felt like a scripted episode of "Look After the Big Six." Let’s start with the laughable attempt by Cole Palmer to buy a penalty. It was a staggering display of desperation from a player who spent more time looking for the turf than he did for the back of the net. The fact that he was even entertaining the idea of a spot-kick after treading on Nick Woltemade’s foot is a joke. It’s the kind of modern 'gamesmanship' or cheating as I call it, that’s rotting the sport, yet we see it week in and week out. If that’s a penalty in today’s game, then the rules have officially left the building. But the real kicker—the one that really boils the blood—is the Malick Thiaw incident. How on earth Reece James is allowed to literally wrestle a man to the floor in the penalty area and walk away without a care in the world is beyond me. Thiaw was completely taken out of the play, hauled down like he was in the middle of a rugby scrum, and yet Paul Tierney and the VAR crew apparently decided that 'wrestling' is now a legal defensive maneuver as long as you're wearing a blue shirt. We’ve seen these given against us for far less, and the lack of consistency is becoming a tired, pathetic narrative that we are forced to swallow. Then we get to the post-match comments from the Chelsea camp. To hear their manager—who is quite clearly feeling the heat of a failing project—try to justify these calls or act like his side were hard done by is absolutely laughable. It reeks of a man who is under immense pressure and is desperately grasping at straws to distract from the fact that his team got outworked, outplayed, and outclassed by a more disciplined Newcastle side. It’s weak, it’s transparent, and it’s the hallmark of a manager who knows the clock is ticking. We aren't asking for favours; we’re just asking for a level playing field. But as long as the 'cartel' clubs get these soft decisions while our players get mauled in the box without a whistle, the sense of injustice will only grow. We won despite the officials, but we shouldn't have to play against twelve men every single week! Rosenior is bang out of order here: "If Paul had focused more on his job, which was to make the right decision, we have a penalty today. I don't think anybody in this room can say that Woltemade doesn't kick Palmer down in the box" The bloke is cringey as, and is living on borrowed time already! To me it's just deflection and excuse making - the better team won at Stamford Bridge! #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL #Chelsea

FT: Newcastle United 2-1 Manchester United William Osula keeps NUFC's Premier League season alive with a sensational late winner. Great performance with 10 men against of the division's in-form sides. Justice after the scandalous red card.

Matthews on how winning will help him moving forward: "I'm trying to live in the moment" Jack Hughes interjects: "Doesn't matter what anyone says now Auston Matthews is a winner." Quinn: "That's what the media in Toronto should be talking about. Auston led us to a championship"
