@IslesUpNorth I love Prok and the upside is insane… but he’s atrocious defensively and has tons of issues with focus, consistent engagement, and selfish play. Could just be a bad situation/relationship with his org. but a good amount of the games I saw the low ice time was warranted

He will need at least 2 years in the AHL before he’ll be ready for the show. Assuming he develops enough to warrant an NHL gig.

Daniil Prokhorov’s KHL loan is officially done as the #Isles 2025 second-rounder got swept in the Gagarin Cup first round. The 6’5” winger had an up-and-down development year. He was on the KHL roster (23 GP, 1G, 4:20 TOI) but was the 13th forward. He had better opportunity on a team with less pressure to win in the VHL and showed the net-front physicality and shot that got him drafted. The two-way KHL deal is over with his three-year ELC is locked in with the Islanders. No extension issues, no classic Russian drama, as the team has full control. Next stop looks like Hamilton in the AHL. At only 18 (turns 19 later this month), he’s ready for the North American development structure. This KHL year showed he still needs to work on his back checking and has to earn coaches trust in tight games. Summer camp and training camp will be his first real test. If he adapts and plays well next year, he’s on the fast track to possibly push for NHL minutes in ’27-28.

He’s getting time on PP1 and has been more productive playing with Schenn. You know, one of the “old and slow” guys Darche acquired. Come on boys.
