my ex-boyfriend was a drunk and i had to learn that i couldnโt love him into sobriety. it broke me to see him constantly try and fail.
he just passed. make no doubt, #alcoholism stole him. this was his last message to me. he felt things were really turning around. i am gutted.

Yikes! $14k a month expenses with 5-7 person crew for filming YouTube videos for 300k views per month? It's no wonder there's no profit in that style of YT channel.
You can't just dive in with high production value / polish into a new YT channel and expect success.

@geerlingguy For sure. She was one of the stars of the Bon Appetit channel that resigned in protest back in 2020 due to some scandal with the EIC. It's unfortunate she (and others?) couldn't find better community advice to steer them down a more sustainable budget path.

That's like if someone broke off LMG and started a channel with a film crewโthat's just not the way it works unless you're signing a deal for an HBO or Netflix show and get funding up front.

@geerlingguy She came from a much larger "professional" channel, so she had prob never done shooting/editing before... outsource it all was the style she knew. Agreed that it's nice she was willing to open up on numbers, few do!

@KateRoseBee You can hide a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream flavored protein powder in pancake mix without anybody noticing. I use the King Arthur buttermilk mix and end up with ~11g protein per pancake.

Great challenge. These apps would replace all local restaurants with a warehouse of microwave meals if they thought they could get away with it. The less we use them the better.
