@Atomsmade “Evil” is the absence of God or distance from him. Satan is the furthest thing from God. His existence is not necessary to conceptualize evil. Something/someone will always be further from God than anything else. Nothing and no one has gone further than Lucifer.

@Atomsmade Satan is a fallen angel not a human being. The covenant is between God and mankind (human beings). Please read the Bible before trying to analyze it.

Because without Satan, the whole story just falls apart. There’s no antagonist left to carry the blame, no “evil” to contrast God against. At that point it just becomes God vs humans, and that version doesn’t really hold up the same way. Every fictional story we already know follows the same structure to keep it interesting: Spider-Man vs Doctor Octopus. Avengers vs Thanos. Batman vs Joker. Remove the villain and the hero suddenly stops feeling like a hero. There’s nothing left to compare against, nothing to justify the “good guy” label. Religion isn’t different, sis. Satan plays that same role, the necessary opposing force that makes salvation, forgiveness, and divine justice even make sense in the first place. Without him, the whole setup loses contrast… and the story basically ends for good.

@kaizen000000000 A human being cannot define perfection. Life as a concept is perfect. What people do with their lives is the imperfection. And a world in which living beings have no choice is not perfect and not loving.

@McClureShawn Like the original post said, people are missing the concept. It requires acknowledging both the religious premise AND scientific facts to understand God (the cause) irrefutably exists.

@McClureShawn The universe began so it has a cause. All things that begin have a cause. Religious people call the cause “God.” Time (space, and matter) did not exist before the Big Bang. So there cannot be anything other than the cause.

It's always hilarious to me when theists, who claim the existence of God, then proceed to claim attributes for this invention without ever having succeeded in proving or plausibly arguing the actual existence of their invention in the first place. It's fantasy heaped on fantasy.

A god who needs worship is already too small to be called a god.

Just because your consciousness experiences time in a linear fashion, it doesn't mean the universe does.

@McClureShawn Everything that begins to exist has a cause. The universe began. The cause is what we call God. Time began with the Big Bang. So the cause (God) created time and existed before it. You cannot fathom what God is. But you know a cause (God) has to exist.

"Who created God?" is merely a pointed question to illustrate the ridiculous, hypocritical special pleading of Christians who argue the existence of the universe represents evidence for a Creator yet simultaneously claim this supposed Creator didn't also require a Creator.

@SpeedWatkins God defines what is good. Man (you) cannot. God does desire to save everyone. Whether or not you want to be saved is a personal decision. If you choose not to that is your choice for eternity. He still wants to save you and loves you. Where you go when you die is up to you.

If God is perfectly good, He would desire to save everyone. If He is all-powerful, He would be able to do so. If both are true, everyone would be saved. Since not everyone is saved, either God lacks power, lacks goodness, or does not exist. Choose wisely.

@_OKJ__ You’re in these comments calling the religious slow. Everything that begins to exist has a cause, the universe began to exist therefore it has a cause. Whatever can create an entire universe is what religious people call God. Your viewpoint is logical fallacy. Half of a thought.

@_OKJ__ You have a connection with your family. Why would you not have a connection with the being that created your family tree? He didn’t HAVE to. And not everyone sees the Christian God as a white man. The Bible literally describes him otherwise.

I mentioned recently how theists regardless of background , culture or race actually have an image of god in mind even when they trying to claim it’s some woo woo disembodied mind … which is a Caucasian man with white beards , white gown , sitting on a throne. … never a black or Asian man .. a white man. They have no choice because the concept of god they argue for philosophically is actually conceptually insensible. Because what do you mean you have a “personal relationship” with an omnipotent atemporal , aspatial , disemobodied mind?
