Myself and 3 other Nigerians have been unlawfully detained in Johannesburg airport for literally doing nothing, papers complete, visa valid and they literally just singled us out of the crowd for nothing, and onenof us's phone has been seized all day and hasn't been allowed to reach out to anyone. They are trying to take my own phone now, so I am putting this out so that the world knows that if anything happens to us, south Africa should be held responsible, please repost and tag the authorities concerned.. They are saying that they will detain us for no reason until God knows when. In terms of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963), Uganda has to inform the 🇿🇦 Embassy when our nationals are arrested. This has not happened. Either these fellows are not South African, their documents are fraudulent or the story is fake. We will monitor & update accordingly.

Normally, the airline that brought you in is responsible for taking you back to your country. The delay people experience—sometimes several hours or even up to a day or two is usually because those return arrangements are being processed.
