You can't give up because trying is an act of defiance against the system that is trying to make you give up

@LifeArtStudios @LudensLudonauta Yeah real. Like knowing the business model you intend to use, carrying out a market analysis and even having a marketing plan is all just "on paper" stuff. It doesn't guarantee sales Its only really good for dev reasons, so you understand your game and who it is for better

@LudensLudonauta a lot of us aren't in it for the money. sure you need money to keep repeating the process, but you also need to actually ship and hope it sells first. if you make games focusssed purely on money you A) will hate doing it B) create souless slop that burries other titles

Most people in the industry (with most exceptions being "indie devs" who came from AAA studios) have no idea how to run a business. Doubt me? Ask 100 indie devs their game business model / business model canvas. You'll be surprised if more than a dozen ever heard about that.

Industry tip that many devs don't know: "Knowing how to animate" is propaganda from BIG 3D to sell more Autodesk subscriptions. If you yell at Blender for enough hours, the animations will simply manifest. ☝️🤓

@BilsuArt Definitely. If from soft included micro transactions and loot boxes it would have performed better long term... (I'm ragebaiting)

𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐮 | wishlist Trinity 64 plz
Elden Ring has lost almost its entire player base. Players say it’s because of: - No meaningful updates in almost 2 years - Lack of collabs and cosmetics - Almost 0 replay-ability after 1000 hours - Increase in price of FromBux Is it safe to say the game is dead?

@CodeRed_dev You don't have to. You can just keep jumping from idea to idea, getting the core idea out but not actually polishing it 🤝🤝

@lunarchstudios @GreyNovGames I feel like you just have to be insane about it. Push yourself so hard that the chance of failure becomes statistically impossible. If you refuse to give up something is bound to give eventually

@GreyNovGames Game dev is a bit like a tech startup where you need an insane level of optimism to be able to push through the negative feedback and low odds of success. It selects for people who never give up, and those people are thus your competitors.

@SGS__Games @CKrebbers @GreyNovGames I think it always helps to remember that we are not meant to implement all feedback. Feedback is meant to help guide us and make decisions but we can take it or leave it and that's always up to us as the creative directors

@CKrebbers @GreyNovGames Or a hardened skin (which after 9 years of dev-ing I'm still figuring out) I think most feedback is valuable. Definently not all of it. I've seen and have some ruthless reviews. Totally unneccessary bashing doesn't help anyone.

Just found out atlus programmed an ai that automatically playtests their long ahh games for them. It found 400 bugs in a day. I'm so cooked. How tf is one guy gonna find all these bugs and fix them SOLO, over the course of like 3 years 🫠

The Time I Have Left⏳Demo OUT NOW
A publisher once told me "Releasing your demo in this state was a mistake." We know some things definitely need improvement (we're still in dev!). But instead of letting it collect digital dust waiting for a publisher that might never come, we put it out there. No regrets.

@ground_ga Just out of interest cus I'm also developing something, but why would a publisher ever advise you to not drop a demo. It's seems like a great way to generate hype and interest in the game?? 😭 Also the game looks absolutely beautiful. I'm gonna try it right now ❤️

@LukeStephens Not a studio. Just a dev. But fuck no, I don't endorse it and I'd like to think many other devs don't either. Pointless ass feature. This is for game directors and publishers who believe that realism is everything and are way out of touch with art direction

Seriously though, game studios can't be happy about this either... Right?... This literally turns every game it touches into a crappy AI face filter mess. We need to see studios come out against this crap

Resident Evil Requiem's dual protagonists offer two very different forms of gameplay, but the clash between horror and action inflicts tonal whiplash. Read our latest opinion piece: bit.ly/3OUQ1hA
