Here's the idea behind the “A New Start” campaign:
Most of us started our careers on Windows. We learned to code, to draw, to solve problems on Windows 98, XP, Vista, etc. Eventually, a lot of us moved to the Mac as it became more common.
We have fond memories of using Windows. When I think back to 2002, learning Flash 5, setting up an FTP server, hearing the dial-up connection, and getting my first website online, I have nothing but amazing memories.
And during that time, we relied heavily on the Start button. It was great and did the perfect job back then.
But the way we work today has changed, and we know that getting to your apps through the Start menu is no longer the desired path.
Raycast does a much better job of helping you use your computer faster and better.
Hence the title: “A New Start.”
It’s a new start for Windows users, for Raycast, and for the Start button.
The campaign has a nostalgic vibe. It’s a love letter to Windows, in a way.
The photos are of the Raycast team using Windows back in the day 🥹
It’s the most honest way to announce Raycast for Windows, from a team that has been building exclusively for the Mac.
I hope you enjoy it.
I’m really glad we get to work on projects like this with @brunocbreis and @ingapng, and to be part of a team that lets us explore new ways of telling stories: @thomaspaulmann @pitnikola

They know that a typical @raycastapp users will want to search past conversations and good titles will help a lot. I wish @MSFTCopilot understands this. Where's the search feature, hmm?
English

I am constantly impressed by how much @raycastapp understands its users' expectations. With most other apps, I usually have features "wish list". With Raycast, I find features I didn't even realize I needed. For example, this AI-suggested rewrite for my AI chat title ❤️❤️❤️

@meshhq I love the WhatsApp integration. Are you planning to have 1-click to send a WhatsApp message too (just like click to Text message)?
English

@meshhq on LinkedIn, can you see how often I interact with a connection? I have someone I interact regularly on LinkedIn, but my network strength with them is Low.
English

@fedesimio This would be amazing. I have notebooks containing all information about my projects (meeting notes, progress status, issues, reference materials, etc.). This will be like chatting with a capable and knowledgeable Project Manager.

Good news for note reminders lovers!
Evernote@evernote
Sometimes, improving a product is about introducing new features…sometimes, it’s about bringing old ones back! 🔔You can now sort and filter your notes by Reminders (again)—both in your Notes list and in each individual notebook. Rolling out now in version 10.97 on Mobile.
English

@TomCayman @fedesimio I second this! Task is something to do. Reminder is reminder, not necessarily something to be done
English

@fedesimio Can we please have our reminders tab back on iOS ?
Count me among the very many who have used Evernote for a decade or more as our memory (the original “why” of Evernote according to one of the first five employees of the company).
You took away my memory.
English

@meshhq Congrats - I'm excited to try this. Your website says you have a free tier. But upon sign up, it looks like a free 14-day TRIAL instead. So, which is it?
English

@fedesimio @WPerplexed I use reminders a lot, actually. Reminders are for me to be REMINDED of the note. Tasks are something for me to DO. I really hope the two can co-exist. Plus, nothing beats the simplicity of forwarding an email to Evernote, then clicking a button to be reminded of it.
English

@WPerplexed Thank you. I agree. Nobody uses note reminders anyway, the only ones who do use them as a hack to pin notes. We'll soon get rid of note reminders to implement an actual pin feature, and that will give us back some vertical space.
English

@fedesimio Loving the new mobile app! One wee suggestion, when on the notes tab, there is the reminders tags etc options at the top - these are important but when scrolling down to find a note perhaps these could fade giving more screen for the list of notes?
English

@svpino Thank them in sharing! How do you save and go back to past conversations?

I rarely use ChatGPT anymore.
Instead, I have a simple script to access the API directly. Every developer should consider doing the same.
This approach is cheaper for me. It's also more flexible and easier to run different experiments.
There are advantages and disadvantages to this method.
First, when I mentioned this yesterday, some people said the API doesn't keep the context of a conversation. This is inaccurate. As you'll see in the code, I keep an ongoing dialogue with the API and retain the context. My solution is rudimentary but is good enough for me. You can improve it if you need to.
Regarding pricing, I usually use GPT-3.5, which is very cheap. I can't imagine getting closer to $20/month using this model. For certain things, I use GPT-4. Slower and more expensive, but get better results.
The API might be more expensive if you are a heavy GPT-4 user. Don't fall for the one-time bill someone had one time and think that will happen every time. ChatGPT Plus is $20 monthly, regardless of how much you use it. That adds up quickly.
The main downside of using the API is losing access to plugins. If you rely on those, you must stick with ChatGPT's GUI.
On the other hand, you gain access to "function calling" through the API. OpenAI released this feature a few weeks ago, and it's a game-changer if you want to build anything serious with these models.
Of course, whether or not this is better for you depends on how you use the system today. I wouldn't recommend that my mom does this, but developers will probably have a better time and appreciate the flexibility.
The code in the screenshot is just a preview of the code. Link to the full notebook is in the next tweet.

@AndrewYNg Safe travels! Good choice with the chili crab :-) Will you have a public event in Singapore?

@kbrisingapura Selamat pagi. Saya WNI residen di Singapura mau perpanjang paspor. Apakah sudah bisa dapat e-paspor dari embassy di Chatsworth?

When you hear that AI is getting more powerful, it doesn’t mean that machines are about to take over our lives. Tools like Generative AI should be seen as companions to make us faster, better, and more productive with our work.

@StevenLevy @satya And it's a great move. I use Bing more than ever now.
