Alberta’s education minister’s provincial flag-hoisting during an overseas tribute to his sister is colliding with the simmering sovereignty debate as questions mount over where UCP caucus members stand on the issue. calgary.citynews.ca/2026/02/16/alb…

@marissenmark Actually, this is how literally everyone understood nationality prior to the cultural revolution of the 60s and 70s. Our immigration policy must take into account cultural continuity and demographic security. This isn't hateful, it's common sense.

The Harvard History department has a class where undergrads just help fill out asylum applications for illegal aliens:

@FistedFoucault My great grandfather was at Vimy... How bout yours Sandeep? Was he in Mesopotamia at least? In either war? No?

The separatists are a noisy bunch but the vast majority of Albertans are fiercely patriotic Canadians - as are all Alberta MPs. Liberal, Conservative, NDP, other. We disagree about how to govern this country, not its inherent value or how lucky we are to be Canadian.

Nothing more amusing than seeing Alberta separatists who hate Canada weigh in on Canadian affairs. They can't wait to be an independent country and possibly join the U.S., and are quite certain they'll get their way, yet they waste their time on Canadian issues. Weird.

Pierre Poilievre on Alberta separatism: "We are entirely a federalist caucus. I have not had a single MP express that view. And as for myself, I'm a very proud federalist, born and bred Albertan, and we will be fighting for a united Canada."
