@oi8achevy True. All FSD can do is reduce the risk whenever possible. That’s why I don’t like driving adjacent to another car for longer than necessary because you never know when an evasive maneuver is required

@edgecase411 Physics will always win, those situations where it does will always be scrutinized as “the human could’ve saved it”👍😏

This is probably the most wild edge case scenario I’ve ever seen FSD encounter. I wanted to wait before commenting on this video until there was clearer evidence about how FSD was involved in this situation. From what this footage shows, this is V12 on HW3 and the human driver took over at the very last possible moment to avoid crashing into the boat. Based on the video, FSD appears to have had roughly one second to react from the moment the boat became visibly airborne over the divider. During that brief window, there’s no clear indication that FSD initiated any evasive response. To be fair, we can’t draw any conclusions about how HW4 FSD v14 would have reacted in this situation. Tesla can run scenarios like this through their simulator to evaluate how the system might respond. It’s also worth noting that this is an extremely difficult situation that most human drivers likely couldn’t have handled safely. The advantage that FSD has here is that it knows at all times what’s around it and can maneuver safely in a split second if possible.

Update: More footage has been released on Facebook by the driver showing that FSD was enabled until the boat landed in the lane causing the driver to hit the brakes and swerve around the boat manually. Would FSD have stopped? We may never know.. The driver quickly tookover.

@econan2723 A couple of things. License plate starts with an 8 (California) and the dashcam viewer on the screen is not the same as my hw4 car

@edgecase411 In the original post they mentioned that don’t know if FSD would’ve handled it because they took over, don’t understand how it spread that it was FSD

Let’s unpack this crazy video. This looks to be in China which means they are likely running FSD V13. All versions prior to V14 are notorious for reacting late to slowing traffic. It has always been my biggest concern and you have to watch it like a hawk because of situations like this. The driver should have taken over earlier to avoid the evasive maneuver and would have likely prevented the resulting crash. Luckily he managed to save himself last second. For those running V13 and V12 be extra cautious!

@HustletownTX832 I’m just pointing out that humans have a flaw that FSD exposes that’s all. Where did I say that FSD was at fault. Clearly it’s the human’s fault. I’m the guy pushing to ban human driving

Another Accident Caused by a Distracted Human I suppose it could be worse... All I know, though, if the lady had Tesla Self Driving she would not have rear-ended me. (The more observant of you might notice that this little love tap didn't even take me out of Tesla Self Driving 😅 I had to hit the break and take over)

@Cyber_Trailer FSD doesn’t have the smarts yet to understand a heavy traffic situation where completing a turn would be practically impossible (rush hour in LA traffic would be prime for that scenario). This example is probably extreme because it’s also an unsafe left turn.

@edgecase411 Think so? We will definitely tries this a lot, but I have not experienced it or seen FSD try it. I suppose if FSD wanted to attempt a hair brain maneuver like that the driver would immediately pull out of it.

@Cyber_Trailer Love testing FSD on these narrow streets in Silver Lake. It does great there. I wonder if the Waymo thinks it’s going the wrong way

Los Angeles, CA (FEB.19.2026)- Manila, we have a problem. Waymo hitting the #FullRetard logging category very hard in the last few days. Seems like the platform is executing a general attack on all narrow streets around the Silver Lake area. Sucks for the people in those areas. Any chance this can be improved on before the platform is scaled to 20 new cities? #SunsetProject

@edgecase411 was their a car behind you? I honestly think you shouldn't pass the big truck unless you're willing to push the car ahead. slow passers are a scourge. now, if no one was behind you then it's a little aggressive for standard mode.

Lately I’ve noticed a bit of impatience creeping into FSD’s driving style with the last few sub-point releases. In this clip you can almost feel FSD pushing the vehicle ahead even though there’s no lead traffic. The follow distance feels too close for comfort, and then as it tries to pass, it gets right up on the driver’s tail, which is unnecessarily aggressive. this is standard mode on FSD V14.2.2.4 @Tesla_AI

@magnitorious I get it there are a lot of unsafe drivers out there hence why this behavior has creeped into standard mode
