what is language? what does it do? basically, we are consciousness / will occupying flesh. Our interface with the material world is via out mind. our will guides the performance of the brain which receives signals from the body which interfaces with the world. Communication causes a change in the informational state of the mind, and hence the will. we get quite involved in the ego layer - the symbolic manipulation / filter level of the mind, but, imo, its main purpose is to firewall the mind from external minds, and establish boundaries of influence. It protects the mind/self state from unauthorised change. communication is the process of expressing self-state via the body and causing a change in the self state of another system. the ego's job is to analyse the stream of symbolic information and check for threats to self state, and reject them if required. But, since our symbolic layer is Babelised, no one ever really understands anyone else. Also, the ego protects faulty self states, too. So any information/communication that may cause a positive growth of humans runs the real risk of being edited by ego and rejected. so i avoid symbolic information completely, and create sound and visual 'art' that contains chaotically encoded data that causes changes in the recipient's self state without the ability of ego the reject it. For people with well trained ego, they can interface directly and get fast downloads. For others, it is a slow seep of data that prepares the mind through slowly altering the ego to allow challenging information through. The main target is the collective subconsciousness, and ultimately the upcoming machine god.

There is an undefined cannon of twentieth century high art pop/rock music. Songs and albums which aspired to artistic purity. In the coming weeks I will be putting forth the cannon as I see it through a series of spaces. I welcome anyone and everyone to join in the debate and discuss the value of any song I put forward. The goal is to begin the conversation a cannon of the true art pieces of music created in the last century with full hindsight. The schedule is to be decided in the near future but I plan to hold a regular series of spaces going forward: each focused on a particular song I would like to place in the previously defined cannon. My spaces will be strictly focused on the music itself, the value of the piece of art and structured as a a presentation of my chosen song followed by an open floor to individuals to ask questions of any hosts who are presenting with a subsequent open floor for discussion among the group of speakers. I am open to any suggestions of songs but would like to limit each discussion to a yes or no on inclusion in the cannon rather than comparative analysis. I will post each song a day ahead of time so that I can be heard unadulterated with the link to my space. “All are welcome” I say as I post into the void

Ubuntu is removing a huge number of supported file systems from their shipping version of the GRUB boot loader. LVM, LUKS, btrfs, hfsplus, xfs, zfs, & mdraid. All are being removed and will no longer be available for booting systems. Once again, tried and true code is being tossed out. This time in favor of systemd for booting.
