@TypeThrow666 @KeithStalker2 Fair point. The material may need to be separated from its late-century applications before it can be fully appreciated again and even though some styles have a habit of outliving the eras they're most associated with, I don't see this happening soon either.

@formsarchive @KeithStalker2 At this point they're so tied to the 1980's that we would have to move into a period of unironic appreciation of that decade in architecture and design spaces and unfortunately I think we're a good ways off from that

@addthattomylist It's surprising they fell so far out of favor given how effectively they balance light and privacy.

@formsarchive Chicagoans really are spoiled. Brick and curved glass is sorta everywhere.

@dennyburt8 A perfect pairing easy to imagine. Mid-century interiors often shared the same optimism about materials and modern living.

@formsarchive They look great with the Marcel Breuer Isokon bentwood table. They were the prototype for the chrome dinette, ubiquitous in 50s households. Ours was yellow.

@elie_foube16925 Couldn't agree more. Half the reason it still feels contemporary is that so much of contemporary design is still catching up to Rams.

@KeithStalker2 Yes! The 80s definitely gave them a second life, still waiting for their next revival.

@KeystoneLite716 That one is actually a restaurant in Chicago that is now closed, but I'm certainly going to look for that building.

@stibi_shimi The line between architectural ambition and public-sector pragmatism was often surprisingly thin!

@CRXSSF4DE Their reception looks beautiful! Curved glass brick has a way of making even ordinary spaces feel unexpectedly cinematic. I'm sure we can find some uses for it!
