***Mary Hill Bypass Bridge Construction Information*** I know many residents have experienced frustrating delays on the Mary Hill Bypass in relation to construction of a new bridge. To say it’s been a gong show the last few days is putting it lightly. While this is a Ministry of Transportation project, and not the city’s, we have nonetheless communicated the concerns to the appropriate Ministry officials. It’s very clear the Ministry of Transportation needs to do a much better job managing this project, and I can assure everyone that I will continue pushing this until fixed. They have provided the following response, which I am sharing with our community: “The current plan during construction is to maintain two lanes of vehicle traffic in both directions. The width of the lanes have been reduced to 3 metres and the posted speed to 40 km/hr in the construction zone. However, out of an abundance of caution, many motorists are choosing to merge into a single lane in spite of the project signage and information shared indicating that two lanes should be maintained. Based on the observations of the project contractor and Ministry staff, it appears that the existing road markings may be contributing to motorists’ confusion. As such, the existing lines on the roadway will be removed this week and delineators installed to clearly identify the new travel lanes. We anticipate that this should help to resolve the confusion, enhance safety and eliminate the extended delays being experienced.”

PSA for all: do a CPR course. EVERYONE should do a CPR course and recertify regularly. Damar Hamlin, a world class athlete, functionally died on the field in front of millions. His life was saved because he had CPR and an AED applied immediately by experts. #learnCPR

PoCo Snow Update # 2 - Nov 29, 10 pm We’ve ramped up our operation to 7 trucks and are making very good progress. Priority 1 routes continued to be cleared before turning our attention to Priority 2,3. Our crews will be working through the night to get it done.
