Two years ago today, Chinese national who doesn't speak English, Mary Fong Lau, 78, was doing 72 in a 25 and slammed into a bus stop in San Francisco. A Portuguese/Brazilian couple and their two babies were slaughtered. Last month, Asian Judge Bruce Chan gave her a FREE PASS.

What the post leaves out: Prosecutors confirmed Lau accelerated to 70 mph before striking the Ulloa Street bus stop. The victims Diego Cardoso de Oliveira 40 Matilde Moncada Ramos Pinto 38 and their sons Joaquim 1 and Cauê 3 months were Brazilian nationals celebrating a wedding anniversary en route to the zoo. Lau pleaded no contest February 13th 2026 to four felony vehicular manslaughter counts after a judge denied her motion to reduce charges to misdemeanors. Relatives sued Lau in May 2025 accusing her of fraudulently transferring $2.5 million in real estate assets to shield them from a wrongful death claim. The civil case remains pending. Judge Bruce Chan who indicated no prison time during the plea cited Laus age and lack of prior record before imposing two year probation and a lifetime driving ban. Chan announced his retirement February 20th 2026 without seeking reelection. As of March 16th 2026 Lau has completed no community service tied to the probation.
