Veteran QB Carson Wentz is re-signing with the Vikings, sources tell The Insiders. So Minnesota’s QB room now features three former top-10 picks: Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy and Wentz, who played well last season before a shoulder injury.

From our parents we always heard “no you wanted that and you’re going to ____” KOC used a near top 10 draft pick on a player that he did a ton of work on and drafted to be “the guy” If he wasn’t ready enough to take over the reigns then we literally could’ve had Murphy (still a hole we haven’t fixed) and Dallas Turner I’d argue just having Murphy on our team swings this enough to get a superbowl At the end of the day KOC assessed and selected JJ over Bo Nix (Who was the more mature and ready-made QB) who also would’ve been in the superbowl last year if not for injury

Mike Florio reported on a recent episode of @ProFootballTalk Live that KOC was "overruled" during the Vikings' 2025 offseason QB search -- that he wanted Darnold, Jones and Rodgers but didn't have a choice but to role with JJ McCarthy and Sam Howell. "As I understand it, O'Connell got overruled. He wanted to have Darnold or Jones or Aaron Rodgers, and he got overruled. They said no to Rodgers. Rodgers wanted to play for them last year, and they said no. They're sticking with JJ McCarthy."

The Vikings letting Sam Darnold walk will turn out to be a blessing in disguise because it allowed them to get an even better and younger QB in Kyler Murray who will end up bringing Minnesota their first Lombardi

It’s not because Jimmy G has only played and been in the room of McVay <> Shanahan systems. He’s spent all of his last few years in the LA QB room. The most successful QBs in this offense we’ve had to-date have all come from those systems: 1. Kirk Cousins 2. Sam Darnold 3. Yes, even Nick Mullens Every QB disaster we’ve had has been dual-threat QBs who have a very strong inability to read defenses and disperse the football. I think if we put Jimmy G and Kyler competing against one-another Jimmy G would be far better UNDER KOC. Kyler would be far better if we put both of them on 32 teams across the league. There’s a difference

We gotta stop with this slander tbh. There are a few players no longer with the Vikings drafted by Kwesi who are literally key pieces of other teams on contracts renewals. There are also younger players we moved on from that are also key players on really good teams. The problem in our building is player development. (Something that was not a problem at all under the Zimmer regime)

After Ty Chandler signed with the Saints today, ZERO members of the #Vikings' 10-person 2022 draft class are still on the team's current roster 👀

Personally, I do not think this is going to work with Kyler. I think if the Vikings sign another vet - That vet will end up being the QB come season-end. I don’t see Kyler staying healthy for a full season and I don’t think he can run this offense. I really think Jimmy G works best for what KOC needs

If 2026 goes well for Kyler Murray, where will he rank among all NFL starting QBs?

I thought JJ was awful last year but, KOC was also a terrible coach last year Your plan as a HC cannot be “draft a QB late in the 1st that’s historically young” And have him run one of the more complex passing offenses in the league. No “young” QB has ever worked well under KOC.

Be honest. If we traded JJ McCarthy, how many teams would he start for? I don’t see a single team. Maybe a chance with the Browns but there would be a battle between him, Shedeur, and Gabriel. I don’t think he would be the #2 on half of them either.

If Kyler does well, I’m all for this. I just want our long term QB. Wouldn’t hurt that he’s a lifelong fan and knows how much it would mean to win it all for the Vikings.

Annoyed that "One Battle After Another" won, because I already suffered through Sinners (which was awful) because I thought it would win To be fair, can't trash the "best picture" winner unless I watch it. Even though I am 99% sure it will be a torture session start to finish.

@eathedocument My whole confusion with this is if Weapons was then David Johnson and the crew from The Long Walk should’ve been up for Oscar nominations because that movie was a masterpiece and one of the best all around movies I’ve seen in years. Everything about it

I think the missing component (Just like envoy on the thieves) This team is built based on Envoy not being a star but, being instrumental to the success of the team. He’s not converting enough sub pressure to balance out the map and allow his team to flow. If they can make it to LAN - I think envoy gets it together

Why did that HP look like such a dramatic team skill difference. OpTic looked so efficient on that map & Paris never had a chance to breathe or set up for anything (proof that pace is everything in BO7). Where did Paris' teamwork in HP go? Can they go on Google Maps or something to try and find it?

C9 looks lost every HP game. Either the coach is doing a terrible job or somehow these pros don’t understand call of duty. Keep everything in front of you, play with pace at the right time, and play with patience at the right time. They get overwhelmed every HP game. Settle in and keep everything in front of you

Brosmer can't stay as QB3....If Vikings looking to add another QB to compete for QB3 possibly QB2. I wouldn't be against bringing in Trey Lance, Will Levis or Anthony Richardson. But I know focus is Murray/Cousins/Rodgers ATM.

@vikingsspin It’s hard to assess last season because I think that team is damn good with Pat Shurmer or Stefanski scheming the offense KOC isn’t a versatile creative mastermind and he lost the Vikings a ton of games last season + pushed JJ into a situation for him to fail

Kyler Murray doesn't throw alot of interceptions or take sacks. Ask yourself how much better the Vikings would be without the interceptions and sacks we took last year with the QB Gong show we had in 2025

The crazy thing about this is there’s a world where Kyler takes a job where he will be the bonafide starter, Kirk Cousins signs with Arizona or Las Vegas to be the day 1 starter and the Vikings once again look insanely unprepared. It’ll be interesting how this all shakes out but, I wouldn’t be selling “win the job to Kyler” He should be the starter day 1. JJ McCarthy wasn’t bad in practice and training camp last season
