I think so highly of the Wild and the way they are built. But it never was a question in my mind who would win this series. The Avalanche are the class of the NHL.

this is harsh, but there are plenty of high status, high compensation jobs that really don't stop at 8 hours in a day. And they aren't for everyone.
In house counsel is often a lot more of a fixed hour position for a lawyer who needs this.

A junior associate informed me she has a "hard stop" at 5 PM on Fridays. She said she needs the weekend to protect her peace and maintain her energy. I told her I completely respect her commitment to boundary setting. I then removed her from the M&A deal she'd spent two months diligence-ing. She came to my office on Monday confused as to why her access was revoked. I explained that a closed deal requires momentum, not a pause button. She asked how she was supposed to hit her billable requirement now. I suggested she use all that extra weekend energy to find a new practice area. Peace is a wonderful concept for people who don't practice corporate law. The rest of us find our tranquility in a signed signature page.

@notlarrysabato If anything this probably makes Ovechkin less likely to retire this season. If he was for sure leaving, it would be unlikely the Caps would hard sell rather than take a 20-30% shot at the playoffs for one last ride.

@dilanesper Advanced stats vehemently disagree, can link if you like. Has 50th most assists *ever*. He is the greatest scorer of all time and is still a very good passer, not to mention 3rd all time in hits. Just because he is the best ever at one aspect does not mean he is bad at the others

i love Ovechkin, but if you didn't see Gretzky play you missed something special. Ovechkin is a goal scoring machine. Gretzky is the best complete offensive player I ever saw.

@dilanesper None of this takes away (or IMO has anything to do with) from Gretzky being the greatest player of all time (though also considerable he played in a much higher scoring era, which makes Ovi overtaking him in goals even impressive).

@dilanesper Maybe possible you missed point of the post, which suggests Ovechkin's assist total is very high for what one expects from a guy who is known for 1. scoring and 2. big hits. Nicklas Backstrom is the best passer to ever play on the Caps and Ovechkin is close to passing him.
