I don't think I've ever had a Wedding Present guitarist tie their shoelace mid-song before! Rachael Wood did exactly that during the breakdown section of 'My Favoutite Dress' last night in Valencia. Not caught on this video but you can see my reaction! youtube.com/watch?v=BpLBXw…

@MenanteauJoube1 @RugbyInsideLine I think Curry was right to mention it to the ref. No reason why he should be fluent in Afrikaan. But Curry has played it down afterwards, and hopefully it was wit kant that was being said. Media have (typically) bigged it up as it was heard on the ref mic.

@RugbyInsideLine I like how they looked for an unappealing photo of their “villain” its click bait at its best. WIT KANT means White side in Afrikaans and it’s quite a normal thing to say before a scrum. Sorry if Bongi telling his team what side the ball is coming in hurt his little feelings.😂

@MikeBubbins Hadn't england just been shoved off their own ball, after the SA subs? So Borthwick responded to that?

Nope. Perhaps we need a mechanism - similar to the shot clock - to speed up the assembly of the scrum. Thing is though, hurrying tired players into so potentially dangerous a place could come with issues. It’s complicated, yes, but it undoubtedly takes too long.
John Beattie@JohnRossBeattie

A wee observation - the scrum is becoming arguably the most important bit of a #rugby game. So much time is being spent getting ready, resetting, deliberately collapsing, looking for a penalty, stopping the clock, “painting pictures” ….is that what we want? #ENGvRSA #ENGvSA

@RugbyInsideLine Nah. Ball came back immediately. Happy with that. It came from BVs poor defensive alignment. Should have swapped him on after the line-out.

@WebsterSurfer @FromLe2 @racingspoon I expect BV to go, Cole and Marler. Possibly Manu and May. George to become backup to whoever is getting the 2 shirt long term. Arundell has to feature. Martin looks like someone to build a pack around. Earl is there for a while too.

A View From LE2 / Elliott Butlin
Might be a big call this, and my faith has been tested over recent months, but I think last night showed Borthwick is an elite Head Coach. Still has a long way to go, but he fully belongs to be at this level. To put this together in 8 months is a top quality achievement.

Not a referee gripe because I don’t know what happened - but at first glance it looked like Fourie got up and carried on running after being tackled before the Bok try. Did he release the ball or was the tackle not complete or was it just not looked at?

@illzwillz69 @Oldsuliansrfc Or curb the currently dominant side. Remember the "truck amd trailer" the aussies used to whinge about in 2003? The main problem is whinging aussies. We need to stop them

Just a quick note to Dan Cole. That will probably be his last game for England. For four years he has ludicrously taken the blame for England’s World Cup final loss. Today he neutralised one of the world’s best looseheads and walked off the pitch with his head held high. 👏

@rugby_ap Yeah, once 1 side has shown dominance in the scrum, or the ref thinks they have dominance, it takes a lot to change their mind. SA did have us for 10 minutes. And a 1 point margin, every detail then gets taken over. It was ours to win & we just couldn't get over the line

That type of thing is so obvious to refs. And when you have already been getting beaten at the scrums… and it’s not your possession… that’s a recipe for disaster

The game winning scrum was an interesting one. Could definitely call for a reset there because both Ox and Genge went at ludicrous angles. O’Keeffe called a knee to the ground first but I also think it was lost on the reset before where Sinckler tried to milk the clock after O’Keefe had the entire game been trying to speed up the scrums.
