With 4 weeks left... Here's where I think the NBA MVP race sits:
1- SGA
2- Luka
3- Wemby
4- Jokic
5- Cade
Luka vs Wemby is thisclose and could flip multiple times over last month. But SGA is going to (and deserves to) win, and Luka has clearly played his way into the Top 3.

Also, OKC’s average margin of victory is 11 points compared to the Lakers’ 1.4. The Lakers play way more close games.
And somehow, Shai still has more clutch points (156) than Luka (52) and is the favorite for Clutch Player of the Year, while missing a TON of fourth quarters this season.

My view on this year’s MVP race has been that SGA’s superior defense, efficiency and ability to limit turnovers edges out Luka’s slight volume edge and big playmaking and rebounding edges. I don’t care much about team record but SGA has that as well, with plenty of OKC injuries.

Like I think if 2026 Luka faced the MVP competition 2007 Dirk did, he wins. His resume is better than the 2007 field’s. But he’s not competing against the field I 2007, he’s competing in 2026. Sometimes there are multiple guys with MVP-caliber resumes and it gets hard.
