With XerahS, we just dropped FluentAvaloniaUI in favor of official Avalonia controls and theming.
FluentAvaloniaUI gave us WinUI-style widgets fast, but it was a third-party layer sitting on top of Avalonia's own theme system. Version skew, workarounds, and constraints you don't sign up for willingly.
Going back to native Avalonia means the app renders closer to what the framework actually intended. Fewer hacks, better maintainability, and a codebase that moves with Avalonia rather than around it.

🚨 BREAKING: A team of engineers just said enough and built a browser from absolute scratch.
No Chrome code. No Firefox code. Nothing recycled.
Ladybird Browser is:
→ A 100% independent browser engine
→ Written in C++ from zero
→ Not a Chromium fork like every "new" browser you've ever seen
→ Completely open source anyone can contribute
Chrome secretly runs 95% of the internet right now.
This is the open source project trying to change that.

Clarification about XerahS: it is an experimental side-project, completely separate from ShareX, used as a playground to test agentic coding among other tools.
ShareX is here to stay. It remains the same battle-tested software you already know, still maintained and updated using traditional development methods.
While we posted about XerahS because it can be interesting to see how vibecoded software (see, we aren't afraid to call it how it is) compares to traditional, stable software, it isn't meant to be a new version nor a replacement.
- If you dislike AI, feel free to criticize and/or ignore it.
- If you're curious, give it a try and let us know (on Discord or GitHub) how it goes compared to ShareX.
- If you want to contribute to our playground, feel free to open vibecoded pull-requests for bugfixes and features.
Any question? Any concern? See you in the replies. ~X

We launched xerahs.com - the new dedicated home for XerahS. XerahS supports Windows and macOS today. Linux support is still maturing, and our ambitious goal is full Wayland/X11 support across Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, and Arch-based distros 💪

they're turning my goat ShareX into vibecoded slop now 💔

@darvin_delgado @ShareX Noted. X11 is what’s working on my 2011 laptop with Ubuntu.

@ShareX Don't waste your time with X11 support. The most widely used desktop environments are removing X11 session support.

@ShareX Maybe... try to get scrolling capture to work first before building useless crap.

@mcored Issue 63 relates to a bug where the screen capture tool fails to save images in certain formats. Users have reported inconsistencies with PNG and JPEG exports. We need to investigate the file handling process and ensure compatibility across all supported formats.

@XerahSapp Testing it on Fedora, Kubuntu and Endeavour OS will hopefully cover most of the Linux users. Issue 65 is hopefully simpler to fix!
