What a uniquely impressive asset our @B2Science is! Had a fantastic tour with John Adams, Ron Wood, and @moonyguy, who explained the research conducted by our faculty, staff and students in Earth system sciences, agrivoltaics, space situational awareness, and so much more.

There it is! The total solar eclipse captured by our Space4 Center team, led by Lunar and Planetary Laboratory professor Vishnu Reddy and designated campus colleague Dr. Lucille Le Corre. They are working under the path of totality in Fredericksburg, Texas today #solareclipse2024

@Unistellar @AllPlanets This is probably the booster, as the actual lander should be much dimmer. The dotted path probably means it is tumbling, which the spent booster is expected to do.

@Int_Machines Nova-C lander (fainter moving dot to the right) and the Falcon-9 booster (bright moving dot to the left) from our backyard telescope in #Tucson tonight. The objects were 175400 miles from the Earth when we took the pictures.

Peregrine lander at 388,000 km from Tucson on Jan. 12, 2024. Object is Visual Magnitude ~18.5. Also got a shot of the Vulcan Centaur heading out to heliocentric space at a distance of 1.085 million km (second video).

@JustinScerini No luck. Looks like ULA did a large enough burn that the booster is pretty far from the spacecraft. So it is not in the same field of view as the Peregrine.

Peregrine lander from our telescope in Tucson tonight. The object was 103500 miles from the Earth when we took the pictures. The lander is the small white dot in the middle. The telescope tracked on the lander's motion so stars appear as white dashes.

@tony873004 Nope. Nothing within a degree that I could see. Too cold out tonight in Tucson to search around. Maybe tomorrow night.

@moonyguy Any luck finding the Centaur? It might be just a few FOVs away, and a magnitude brighter.

#Asteroid 2022 YG shows signs of being a quasi-satellite of Earth. @AdrienCoffinet pointed out this relationship now that we have a year's worth of data. It has been in quasi state since 1961 and will remain so until 2181. Kamoʻoalewa is another example of a quasi-satellite.
