@morwhenna @RoyalMail I believe all mail to Europe automatically goes by Air Mail, so postcards are £1.85....A postcard by Air Mail to USA also costs £1.85...otherwise the £1.60 rate is for surface mail

Question: Can anyone tell me why it’s more expensive to send a postcard to Germany (£1.85) than it is to USA (£1.60)? I find this most confusing seeing that Germany is much closer...@RoyalMail I’m seriously curious as to the why - so facts only pls - Thank you!

@letterappsoc @morwhenna @RoyalMail A much slower journey - international economy used to be 'surface mail', i.e. by ship rather than air. Although I've had many international economy deliveries by airmail.
