My journey in the last eight years has seen me work closely with leaders who have since departed from the Congress party, yet my allegiance remains steadfast to the principles and values upheld by the party. While individuals come and go, my commitment to the Congress party endures. Through my experiences, I've witnessed the ebb and flow of leadership, but it is the enduring ethos of the Congress party that resonates with me. Despite the exodus of leaders, my dedication to the Congress party stems from its long-standing commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and the empowerment of ordinary citizens. These values resonate deeply with my own beliefs and convictions. Furthermore, my loyalty extends beyond individuals to the larger vision of progress and equality that the Congress party represents. It is a vision that transcends transient political alliances and personal ambitions. In times of change and transition, it is more important than ever to remain anchored to the foundational principles that define us. My unwavering support for the Congress party is a testament to my belief in its enduring mission to build a stronger, more equitable India for all.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not a character for convenient storytelling, he is the very spirit of Swarajya, built on courage, clarity, and unshakable resolve. Any claim that he “grew tired of war” or wished to abandon his throne is not just historically baseless, it is an insult to the legacy of a ruler who fought against impossible odds to build a just and self-respecting state. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did not bend under pressure, did not retreat from responsibility, and certainly did not seek escape from duty. His life stands as a testament to resilience, not retreat. Faith and reverence must never become tools to distort history. Spiritual narratives cannot override documented truth. When public figures speak, they carry the responsibility of preserving the dignity of icons who belong to the entire nation. Maharashtra does not merely remember Shivaji Maharaj, it lives his ideals. And those ideals deserve respect, not reinvention. This is not about politics. This is about protecting truth, honour, and the legacy of one of India’s greatest sons.

West Bengal Congress@INCWestBengal

The West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the brutal killing of Congress supporter, Debdeep Chatterjee, in Asansol, who was known to be working closely with Asansol North Congress candidate, Shri Prasenjit Puitandi, in a shocking incident of violence during the post poll phase. The victim was attacked and beaten by miscreants linked to the ruling All India Trinamool Congress and succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. This tragic incident exposes the complete collapse of law and order in the state and raises serious questions about the safety of opposition workers in West Bengal. The fact that such violence has occurred immediately after polling highlights a deeply disturbing pattern of political intimidation and vendetta. The Congress party stands firmly with the bereaved family and demands: * Immediate arrest of all those responsible for this heinous crime * A fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation * Adequate compensation and protection for the victim’s family It is deeply concerning that even an FIR had not been registered at the time of reporting, further indicating administrative apathy in the face of such a grave incident. The Indian National Congress reiterates that democracy cannot survive in an atmosphere of fear and violence. We will continue to raise our voice against such atrocities and fight to ensure justice for every victim.

There is something deeply revealing about the outrage that followed @RahulGandhi’s criticism of Mamata Banerjee. It is not outrage rooted in principle; it is outrage rooted in preference, the expectation that the Congress must remain accommodating, even when confronted with hostility from those conveniently described as “allies.” Let us begin with a simple fact: the Congress and the All India Trinamool Congress are not in alliance in West Bengal. They are direct electoral rivals. To suggest that one must refrain from criticising the other is not a call for unity, it is a demand for submission. For years, the Congress has faced relentless attacks from regional parties, including the TMC. Its leadership has been mocked and its space systematically squeezed. Yet, when Rahul Gandhi raises questions on governance, accountability, and political conduct, the same voices that champion “free speech” suddenly demand restraint. This is not liberalism. It is selective tolerance. More importantly, this criticism does not emerge in a vacuum. West Bengal’s political landscape has long been marked by allegations of intimidation, cadre violence, and suppression of opposition voices. Congress workers have repeatedly reported being targeted and cornered. Post-poll violence and clashes during elections are part of the state’s political reality. In such a scenario, what is Rahul Gandhi expected to do, remain silent? That would not be statesmanship. It would be abdication. There is also strategic clarity here. A political ecosystem that allows governance failures or coercive practices to persist unchecked does not strengthen the opposition; it weakens it, creating space for the BJP to grow. To question that ecosystem is not to fracture the opposition, it is to restore its credibility. The discomfort arises because Rahul Gandhi has chosen candour over convenience. He has rejected the fiction that all opposition parties are natural allies at all times. He has asserted that the Congress must defend its space, its workers, and its principles. The asymmetry is striking. When regional leaders attack the Congress, it is called “assertion.” When the Congress responds, it is labelled “division.” This double standard is neither sustainable nor honest. Unity cannot be built on enforced silence. Real political partnerships are negotiated between equals, not dictated by selective outrage. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks are not a deviation from democratic norms; they are an assertion of them. They reflect a Congress unwilling to be reduced to a passive participant, and a leadership that understands political space must be defended, not surrendered. If that unsettles some, it is because it disrupts a long-standing expectation, that the Congress will always yield. That era appears to be ending.

I didn’t expect yesterday’s post to reach so many people. But maybe it did because, deep down, we are all asking the same question, What kind of India do we want? For me, supporting @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia is not about politics alone. It is about the India I want my children to live in: An India where identity is not a barrier, Where disagreement is not hatred, And where every citizen feels they belong. And this belief is not just emotional, it is backed by what Congress has contributed to India’s journey: 👉🏻The Right to Information Act empowered ordinary citizens to question authority. 👉🏻The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act gave livelihood security to millions of rural families. 👉🏻The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act ensured education as a fundamental right. 👉🏻Landmark economic reforms like the 1991 Indian economic reforms opened India to growth and global opportunity. These are not just policies, they are proof of a vision that tries to include, not exclude. We may differ in our political choices. But surely, we can agree on one thing, India must remain for everyone.

An old friend messaged me the other day. After the usual catching up, he asked a question many people wonder but don’t always say out loud: “Why do you still support Congress?” I paused before replying. Not because I didn’t have an answer, but because I wanted to give him an honest one. I told him… it’s not about “still.” It’s about why I do. I support @INCIndia because I believe in the idea it stands for an India that belongs to everyone, not just a few. An India where differences are respected, not weaponised. Yes, the party has had its ups and downs. What institution hasn’t? But I don’t judge it only by its moments of weakness, I look at the foundation it helped build. The Constitution, the democratic framework, the space for every voice to exist… these didn’t happen by accident. And then there’s @RahulGandhi. I told him, what stands out to me is not perfection, but intent. In a political climate full of loud claims, here is someone willing to listen, to walk among people, to ask questions, even if they’re uncomfortable. That, to me, is strength, not weakness. I said, I don’t support politics that divides people into “us” and “them.” I support politics that reminds us we are one. He asked me, “But do you really think it can make a difference today?” I replied, change has never been instant. But it always begins with people who refuse to give up on the idea of a better, fairer country. For me, supporting Congress is not blind loyalty. It’s a conscious choice to stand for unity over division, dialogue over noise, and hope over cynicism. I ended the message by telling him: “I don’t support Congress because it’s perfect. I support it because I still believe in the India it stands for.”

I hear your concern, and it’s important to separate perception from policy and isolated statements from institutional positions. First, on the question of Hindus and RSS supporters, no mainstream position of the Indian National Congress has ever called for hatred or harm against any community. Congress has historically stood for Sarva Dharma Sambhava, equal respect for all faiths. India’s culture and civilisation are deeply rooted in Hindu traditions, and that has never been denied. At the same time, the party has also consistently argued that the State must treat every citizen equally, irrespective of religion. If any individual leader has made an inappropriate remark, it deserves criticism, but that cannot be equated with the ideology of the entire party. On the second point, leadership and one family. It’s true that members of the Nehru–Gandhi family have played a prominent role in Congress for decades. But it’s equally true that the party has had presidents and chief ministers from diverse backgrounds across the country. Even today, leadership positions in Congress are contested and decided within the party framework. Leaders like @kharge currently head the organisation, which reflects that it is not limited to one family alone. Regarding Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh supporters, political disagreement is not the same as hatred. In a democracy, different ideologies will challenge each other. Congress’s disagreement has been with certain ideas it believes may divide society not with individuals as citizens. At the end of the day, no political party is above scrutiny, including Congress. But it’s also important to judge any party by its long-term commitment to constitutional values, pluralism, freedom, and equal citizenship. We may disagree politically, and that’s perfectly fine. But the idea of India is strong enough to accommodate those differences with respect.

If Congress stands for the idea of India which is for everyone, why your leaders always curse Hindus and RSS supporters and turn then into Jews to be wiped off. If Congress stands for India for everyone, why the position at the top is reserved for one family? Even Congress is not for everyone.

I understand where you’re coming from and you’re right, politics is not just about ideals, it’s also about winning people’s mandate. But I believe reducing a political party only to its recent electoral results can sometimes miss the larger picture. The Indian National Congress is not just an election machine, it is an institution that has shaped the very foundation of our democracy. Yes, it has faced setbacks, and accountability is important in any political setup. Leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, must introspect, adapt, and evolve and to be fair, we have seen attempts in that direction. But history shows us that political cycles change. Parties rise, fall, and rise again what sustains them is not just electoral success, but the strength of their ideology and their connect with people. For me, supporting Congress is not about ignoring its challenges. It is about believing that it still represents a necessary voice in India’s democracy, a voice for balance, inclusion, and accountability. Winning elections is important, no doubt. But so is standing for the right ideas even when the road is difficult. And sometimes, the true test of commitment is not when a party is winning, but when it is rebuilding.

@msgpahujaa That's alright, but a political party also has to win elections. If a party is continuously losing elections after elections then someone has to take the responsibility. It's not any NGO.

The British Empire tried to finish Congress. They failed. The RSS/BJS/BJP tried to finish Congress. They failed. The Muslim League tried to finish Congress. They failed. The Janata Party tried to finish Congress. They failed. The Communists tried to finish Congress. They failed. The AAP tried to finish Congress. They failed. For over 140 years, the Indian National Congress has outlasted, outwitted, and outperformed every adversary. Adversaries come, rise, fade, and fall. Congress remains. The Indian National Congress isn’t just a party - it is a movement. It is the idea of India in motion. It defends the Constitution and binds Indians together. Many have tried to end INC. None have succeeded. None will. India endures. Congress endures.
