@PhilMealey The humour was always in the little interactions. Like when Eddie is mithering Ken about roadworks while he's pulling him a pint and Ken says: "I couldn't give a shit Eddie. Give us three quid cock." Hahaha

Sorry for mithering with another article about Early Doors, but there seem to be quite a lot of them. Thanks to the person from ‘British Comedy Classics’ that wrote this (sorry, no name). Anyway, I like this one, it’s worth a read, whether you’re an Early Doors fan or not…

Whereas Manchester United's George Best had a city-centre boutique, Denis Law had a shoe repair shop in Moston Lane, Blackley, north Manchester. Here he is opening it in March 1964.

@AnthonyTeasdale This was the daddy. Used to drink it in Aberdeen in the late 90s. What a pint. Then it vanished entirely…🥲

1990s Caffreys is loads better than Guinness – and I miss it. We had it so good. The refreshment of lager. The texture of Guinness. The flavour of bitter. Now look at us. "Pineapple IPAs". :(

@vickyinatutu Sometimes it's economics for the venue too. They make so little on ticket sales. 400 rock fans at an AC/DC tribute will drink a fair few pints which helps keep the doors open.

The vast number of tribute acts is killing the live music industry. I used to be able to go see a local band every couple of weeks for under a tenner & now it’s just wall to wall tribute bands wanting £20+ a ticket to play other people’s songs.

@Snooker_Chat I remember during a Neil Robertson game, one of the commentators talking about how clean living he was, into healthy regimes, food etc and JV piped up in his dry voice: "You certainly wouldn't describe him as one of the game's hellraisers*.... Perfect...

Stephen Hendry has told how he is "not looking forward" to the World Championship following the passing of John Virgo. Hendry and Virgo worked closely in the BBC commentary box. The Scot said: "It's going to be horrible. It'a huge gap he's going to leave in snooker." #snooker

"Don't Go" is a song by British synth-pop band Yazoo (known in the US and Canada as Yaz). It was released on 5 July 1982 as the second single from their debut album, Upstairs at Eric's (20 August 1982). The song peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Yazoo's second top 5 hit. In the US, where the band was known as Yaz, the song was their second big hit on the American dance chart, where it spent two weeks at number one in October 1982.

Unbelievable! Ceding our streets, the beautiful game to racists antisemites. @Keir_Starmer if you really care then you overturn this weak decision by local Police, send in reinforcements if necessary and ensure that @MaccabiTLVFC fans can attend the match and support their team. Otherwise this is handing power to the mob. Utterly shameful 💔👇🏽

I welcome the news that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be permitted to watch the match at Aston Villa! Well done to all those that signed our petition!

#NowPlaying One of the great October albums. Been listening on repeat since yesterday. "Paint Work" is really hitting the spot, beautifully meta in that Mark E. Smith sings about spoiling the paintwork in a song that includes some audio he (unintentionally?) recorded off the TV.

People who don't know Manchester need to understand the city's Jewish and Muslim communities have lived side-by-side for years, especially precisely where this despicable attack has happened... it will do so again... it will not be cowed by evil.
