Are people paying attention? Treating Alberta as an inferior province is driving them into the arms of the Americans. nationalpost.com/news/fully-in-…
Geoff Sinclair@sinclair_geoff

@paustin1211 @DanPlanetta @chriswarkentin What exactly do you expect to happen to Quebec and Ontario if Alberta and Saskatchewan vote to secede and ask help from the US? It's ironic that by bullying Alberta, you have given all the cards to the Americans to cut off your oil.

@AlanRMacLeod Probably because it was being distorted as being anti-west. Unconvienent truth is that the West ended slavery.

The U.N. General Assembly has adopted a draft resolution that unequivocally condemns the trafficking of enslaved Africans and the transatlantic slave trade as the most inhumane and enduring injustice against humanity. 123 in favour 3 Against (USA, Israel, Argentina) 52 abstentions The resolution also seeks to recognize the profound and lasting impacts of the abhorrent regimes of slavery and colonialism and emphasizes that claims for reparations represent a concrete step towards remedying historical wrongs against Africans and people of African descent. #sabcnews

With a vote of 86%! 86% of the members in the International Association of Genocide Scholars agreed that Gaza was a genocide. It is overwhelming consensus for those charged with studying such things and it’s not really close
Joe Wrote@joewrote

If you’re a wonk denying the Gaza genocide, I expect a full paper articulating what you think the International Association of Genocide Scholars got wrong and why we should trust you over the most prestigious expert group on earth.

Canada's Dirty Little Secret: Exposing the MAiD Predators Part 4 Name: Brent Palmer - 76 years old Where: Victoria General Hospital - British Columbia Date: June & October 2024 What Happened: Tireless Advocate for Food Banks... "have you considered MAiD?" Brent had diabetes and a heart condition, but his loving wife took care of him and made sure he was receiving the medical attention he needed. One day they went for care to a wound clinic after he developed a painful heal crack on the bottom of his foot. At this stage it was small, only approx. 1 cm. “You might just see a small wound, but I see gangrene.”, Dr Y said. Then after a couple minutes of discussion he stated, “Many people in this situation opt for MAiD”. That suggestion was brushed off as appalling and ridiculous, but his wife Marie recounts, "it would not be the last time Brent was faced with offers to end his life". In early October 2024 Brent was admitted to Victoria General Hospital and had to stay for a month while they tried to treat the foot. Brent was not ready to die and wanted all the care in his Care Plan to be administered should he need it, including "Extreme Measures" to be kept alive. The doctors did not like his decision and constantly tried to persuade him to change it, even calling his wife at home asking her to speak to him about it, which she refused to do. They asked him several times if he would consider MAiD and he would always say "NO". He told his wife that he was afraid that they wanted to kill him in the hospital. One day after a few weeks in Victoria General, a young Dr. walked into his room, read his chart and said, “Your chart says you have requested MAiD”. Both Brent and his wife said, “Absolutely Not!” She backed off right away and changed the subject. How that instruction ended up on his medical chart is still a mystery, but it was quickly corrected by Brent’s family. Brent’s one month stay there is now remembered by his wife as being “barbaric”. Brent was transferred to the Royal Jubilee Hospital to undergo an amputation of his leg. Further health complications eventually took his life, naturally, on Nov 18, 2024. For over 30 years, Brent's many initiatives to support Food Banks in Canda are too many to mention. Brent was a Hero. "He raised millions of dollars, all with the determined goal of alleviating hunger and poverty". It was written, before his death; "Brent is a caring and compassionate man, and what he does to help people goes way above and beyond his work with the Mustard Seed ... not only will he get food for someone in need and their pets too if they have them, but he also tries to add something nice to brighten their day like toys for the kids or a gift card they can use for something they want. He even had hay delivered for a donkey when he found out the owner… one of his neighbours… couldn't afford to feed it. He’s found jobs for people, he’s found missing family members, he’s found things people need and can’t afford, everything from furniture to expensive medical items. He has a soft spot for seniors, children and animals and he strongly believes that nobody should ever go hungry in a country as rich as ours and he is passionately driven to ensure that no one does.

Indigenous tribes are quasi-state entities that wield the power of government but with none of the accountability or legitimacy. Why would we want them to govern anything? The principles of liberal civilization demand that tribal “governments” be abolished. Indigenous tribes merit no sovereign governance for the same reason we don’t allow Apple or Amazon to buy city-sized land plots to unilaterally govern themselves. Indigenous communities are welcome to incorporate a Society or utilize contracts to exercise their freedom of association within their own neighborhoods, the same way Strata or HOAs do. The idea they should govern these as their own quasi-sovereign states within Canada, though, is insanity.
Aaron Pete@Aaronpete_

Caroline, Again, I’m not endorsing their approach but don’t you think it’s relevant that they say the task force has no authority to make decisions and “Land back does not mean removing people from privately owned property. Instead, the task force focuses on restoring Squamish Nation governance, stewardship, and cultural connection to lands currently under public jurisdiction,” the report reads.

She is speaking to what is happening. Trying to cancel those concerns as “race and fear” might have worked a few years ago, but citizens are onto it. Giving vetos, land use and resource governance decisions to 5% of the population based on race is an issue that will impact private property ownership. You know it. I know it.

I support private property rights. It can be done while we reconcile historical wrongs. However, when the issues are framed through the lens of race and fear, it fuels division and minimizes our shared history. As BC faces external threats we need to be collaborative and truthful
Caroline Elliott@NVanCaroline

“When I think about my white European ancestors who came here, claimed these lands and introduced the human construct we call private property…” It’s all here: ❌ Inherited guilt based on race ❌ Private property as a “construct” ❌ Giving your public land away NDP “land back” activists are saying the quiet part out loud. I’ll stop it. Join me: 👉 WinForBC.ca

The Toronto Police Service is introducing new measures to strengthen public safety in response to a more complex security environment. Today, we announced the launch of our new Counter-Terrorism Security Unit and increasing high-visibility deployments in key areas across the city. These steps are not tied to a specific-threat — they’re about prevention, readiness, and keeping our communities safe. Learn more: tps.ca/media-centre/n…
