The straight was open and has always been open until we started this war.
Now Iran has asserted more control over the straight, is collecting fees to allow passage (making more money), is forcing transactions to be conducted in Yuan, and has fewer sanctions. Oh, and all of our allies in the Middle East have seen we can't protect them, which was the whole basis of the Petro Dollar.
