We are aware of the position taken by the DOJ in its filing in Texas in which it claims that it can still enforce the NFA against certain braced pistols as SBR's. The uncertainty caused by these statements have further reinforced why its critical we dismantle the NFA to the full extent possible. SAF is now supporting THREE federal lawsuits seeking the removal of SBR's from the NFA entirely - an outcome that would render all of this pistol brace drama irrelevant. We are in the process of seeking additional information about the DOJ and ATF's current position on braced pistols, and if any additional information is forthcoming, we will of course share it with all of you!

2 years ago today, Bryan, the highest paid city employee in Little Rock as the Executive Director of the Little Rock Airport (where he earned an annual salary of more than $260,000), woke up to the sounds of someone breaking into his house. He armed himself and went to see what was going on, ultimately firing on the intruders who had broken into his home. Seconds after hearing the break-in, he was shot in the head. It was Federal Agents who had entered his home. There was no arrest warrant, though he was under investigation… Bryan had no reason to believe that he was under investigation for violating the law. He never received a letter of inquiry, audit, a personal visit, or a request for information from the ATF, nor did he ever receive a target or subject letter from the DOJ notifying him that he was under investigation. His widow is suing for wrongful death, and the case is ongoing. As of December 2025, the Government lawyers are asking the judge to dismiss the case entirely, both the claims against the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act and the claims against individual agents using what’s known as the Bivens doctrine, a rare path allowing lawsuits against federal officers personally.

🚨SAF has joined the @NRA and Firearm Owners Against Crime in an amicus brief filed with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in support of the appellant in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. Kareem Mohammed Williams Jr. The case challenges the state’s prohibition on law-abiding 18-to-20-year-olds carrying firearms for self-defense. “Pennsylvania’s ban defies Bruen by denying young adults their Second Amendment rights without any historical tradition of such age-based restrictions at the Founding,” said SAF Director of Legal Research and Education Kostas Moros. “History shows that 18-to-20-year-olds were not only part of ‘the people’ protected by the Amendment, but were required to keep and bear arms for militia and self-defense purposes. We urge the Court to reverse the lower court and recognize that these young adults enjoy the same fundamental right to self-defense as other Americans.”... The NRA, @2AFDN, and Firearms Owners Against Crime filed an amicus brief urging the PA Supreme Court to strike down the state’s ban on concealed carry for adults under 21.

Gavin Newsom passed a law to attack the First Amendment because he was mad about a .22lr rifle that was meant for junior shooters. That little stunt has cost California taxpayers over a million dollars, not including whatever CADOJ spent on their own lawyers. $350k to SAF, $550k to the CRPA coalition of plaintiffs in the same lawsuit, and another $480k in the parallel Safari Club International case on the same issues. Will Newsom apologize to taxpayers for this waste? We appreciate your contribution.

💥Just filed: SAF has appealed the judgment entered in Reese v ATF, one of two major cases challenging the federal handgun purchase ban affecting young adults. While the court struck down the law as unconstitutional, the scope of relief was limited to the geographic bounds of the Fifth Circuit, and those individuals who were SAF members as of January 27, 2026, when the judgment was signed. SAF is appealing the limited scope of the order. SAF’s other challenge to this law Brown v ATF is currently pending before the Supreme Court on a Petition for Cert.
