@latterdaylaura I hear you, but this is why kids are so soft. Dead beat dads (and moms) can go to hell, but the pendulum has obviously swung too far. There is such a thing as balance, where kids can struggle a hair and be stronger for it. And also where when they struggle mightily, we show up.

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last. No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5. In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.

They have basically been doing it this way for years. That first game is always on an island and it’s anybody’s. Guess if you will get your early afternoon for yardwork or actually need to watch. It does seem a little bit like a waste on their part, though, I kind of move on to start getting ready for the week, and I assume others do, too.

I love duke hating as much as the next guy. But go watch the first 5-10 mins of the game. Edmonds was out to make a physical statement from the beginning. He played well but it was just a matter of time before he got whistled. 2nd foul was crazy dumb and was the death knell. But he was playing w/ fire all night.

The refs in this Duke-TCU game have been very bad, this was called a foul on TCU player number 24 on the top of your screen, Xavier Edmonds. He was yelling at the officials: “HOW IS THAT A FOUL???”

@Jeff_Ermann Yes and no. Fewer upsets on opening weekend is a letdown. But a lot of us want to settle it on the court — who’s the best? The existence of Cinderella undermines that. And what’s worse than a final four where one team’s just happy to be there and has no chance to win.

With High Point out, the only chance for a non-power conference team to make the Sweet Sixteen is Utah State. Which has to beat Zona to get there. It's not a fluke. The Sweet 16 was 16 power conference teams last year. Still love the tourney, but it's losing a lot of its charm.

Runnin’ Rebels all day. Fab5 were great but this is boys v. men. As 25 years olds, I’d take the Fab5. Can’t believe none of Augmon, Howard or Rose made an All Star game, but (per Claude) I guess it’s true. They were all very good. Larry Johnson did, and Webber likely would have got some MVPs if not for Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, etc. Anyway, in college, UNLV would crush them.
