Here are the main reasons why I believe the large flood event described in the Bible occurred 5,000–6,000 years ago: Sediments showing major flood deposits have been found in ancient Mesopotamian cities such as Ur, Shuruppak, and Kish. There was also a Y-chromosome bottleneck in which 19 out of 20 male lineages went extinct (literally a "Noah's Flood" scenario in which only one male lineage and a few female lineages were passed on). In addition, there was an abrupt climate change event and the desertification of the Sahara, during which the once-green region turned into a vast desert. All of this happened during the same period, around the time of the 5.9 kiloyear event and the Solovki Geomagnetic Excursion. This evidence points to the flood traditions preserved in the stories of Noah, Gilgamesh, and Atrahasis from the Levant and Mesopotamia, as well as the Flood of Manu in India and the Greek flood of Deucalion.

It goes far beyond simply hard to believe. There is not a single example showing this level of precision and stoneworking could be achieved using the toolset that mainstream claims. It is, quite literally, an assertion with no supporting evidence.
