A 29-year-old Gauteng traffic warden has been arrested in Midrand for corruption and extortion. He allegedly detained seven undocumented foreign nationals and attempted to solicit a bribe from their employer in exchange for their release. The employer alerted SAPS, leading to a sting operation where the officer was caught with the money and arrested.

This Cash and Carry in Mamelodi, that’s owned by foreign nationals, has a fraudulent Certificate of Acceptability for food premises and a fraudulent fire compliance certificate. In addition, they have no trading licence and this building was built without municipal approval. The owners have damaged municipal infrastructure through an illegal water connection.
