I am delighted to have accepted an invitation from Kwame Antwi, host of the Data Guy Podcast, to join him for a conversation. What made this invitation stand out is how closely it aligns with a purpose that guides much of what I do: awakening the giant in others. I believe that all of us are brought into this life with all that we need to be successful. The challenge is that many of us spend our time looking beyond ourselves instead of looking within. My mission has been to help individuals recognise and leverage these inner strengths as they navigate through life. Kwame’s podcast creates what he calls a “corporate classroom” — a space where young professionals and emerging leaders can learn from the real experiences, decisions, and leadership lessons of those who have walked the path. This is exactly the kind of platform that can help awaken that giant in the next generation. In our discussion, we explored my own journey — from engineering roots to the leadership roles I have been privileged to hold — not as a blueprint to copy, but as an invitation for listeners to reflect on their own inner resources and how to activate them. I am grateful to Kwame for his thoughtful approach and his commitment to building this platform for Africa’s future leaders. When the episode is released, I encourage you to tune in. And as you listen, I hope it prompts you to ask yourself: What strength within me have I yet to fully awaken and put to work? I would love to hear your reflections in the comments. Thank you, Kwame.

People close to the process said that Dlamini took the view that Masondo was encroaching on the company’s operations and found a sympathetic ear in Godongwana, sowing seeds of division that spilt over to the board. businessday.co.za/news/2026-07-2…

As I understand it, while testifying before the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee, Advocate Andrea Johnson stated that she only received death threats after the arrest of Lt Gen Khumalo. However, in her testimony before the Madlanga Commission, she indicated that the threats were made before the arrests. Which version is correct?

@obi1canob @Dempumza Engineering trains people how to think. It’s not something you lose over time — in fact, the opposite happens. The more you apply it, the sharper, more instinctive, and more powerful it becomes.

@mteton @ThubelihleM12 Happy to admit it too. I do however also read that the proportion of new build and planned renewable far outweighs the other 3 combined?

Proud of our Koeberg Nuclear team’s swift, professional response to recent minor internal events - fully contained, no environmental release, no risk to the public. 40+ years of safe operation, with both units’ licences extended to 2044/2045. This is what skilled people, strong leadership and rigorous safety culture deliver. Moving forward, we’re prioritising proven technologies for 5.2 GW of new nuclear capacity by 2042. #Eskom #NuclearSA #EnergySecurity

@ThubelihleM12 @mteton Overall it still ends up expensive. China is going full on renewable. They would choose nuclear if it was cheaper. I am no expert, but dont think they would get it that wrong.

Gqeberha on all day electricity black out on the day of the World Cup Final, Belgium 🇧🇪 F1, The Open and important stage of @LeTour Privileged families have generators while everyone else must stare at the wall. Suburbs without water for weeks. I don’t think this works out well for @MyANC or Eskom. Why must the ratepayers of the City keep paying taxes and electricity bills? If I delivered this service in my business then customers would simply leave me. @MTeton

The Government of National Unity should not allow itself to become reactive and defensive against accusations from certain African countries over its handling of undocumented migration. That posture only distracts from its core responsibility of serving South African citizens. The time has come for the GNU to formulate and clearly communicate a coherent “South Africa First” policy on immigration and border management - one that directly and honestly addresses the real pressures on jobs, housing, healthcare and safety that our people are experiencing. This approach is consistent with developments and trends around the world where nations are increasingly prioritising their citizens’ interests while managing their borders responsibly. #ProudlySA #NationalInterest #Leadership #BuildSouthAfrica

@mteton Tell citizens the TRUE INTENT behind your tweet, Mteto. Your term as Eskom Chair ends in Oct, and you want to be reappointed, so you've decided to ride the loudest populist tide available. Calibrated political theatre masquerading as leadership!! 🚮🚮 But hey, Gayton did it.

Thank you to the City of Tshwane for leading by example and demonstrating exactly what metropolitan municipalities should model for their citizens: the importance of paying for services rendered. Your commitment to building a culture of accountability and financial responsibility not only strengthens your own revenue base but sets a powerful precedent for sustainable service delivery across South Africa. In doing so, you remind us that reliable infrastructure and quality services are sustained when citizens and government meet their mutual obligations with integrity. Keep shining, Tshwane. Your example is both timely and inspiring. #Accountability #Eskom

We reduced the City's contingent liability by R5 billion in the last quarter. In other news, we have now paid R2.5 billion towards the historic Eskom debt and have remained fully compliant with the payment agreement. That's how you fix a broken city. Aggressively steady. Vuka, Tshwane. This city won't build itself 🇿🇦❤️🇿🇦

This is the obvious strategy for a dominant incumbent vertically-integrated power utility, resisting the transfer of grid assets to an independent Transmission System Operator outside @Eskom_SA , frustrating grid expansion, access and greater competition . moneyweb.co.za/news/south-afr…

In many neighbourhoods, the local electricity network (transformers, mini-substations, and cables) was designed for a certain number of legal customers using normal amounts of electricity. Over time, illegal connections and electricity theft have dramatically increased the actual demand on these networks.
