Eskom has spent at least R469.24 million on diesel since 1 April primarily on independent power producers (IPPs) despite a stable grid so far this winter. The latest data from Eskom shows that the power utility dispatched IPPs for over 80% of its diesel-burning needs. tinyurl.com/2r7m6j3y

@lapsion By switching to just-in-time spares delivery, they slashed working capital costs. They also bet on themselves — it’s their product, after all. We keep making the same mistake: confusing sales with profits, only to land in deep financial trouble.

Most so-called political analysts lack technical depth in economics, law, and political theory. They argue from emotion and ideology, not evidence—consistently falling short. Instead of educating, they fuel confusion, laziness, and ignorance. This isn’t analysis. It’s performative noise disguised as insight. Substance over slogans.

In 2022, we sold Altron Managed Solutions to NCR. The business was unprofitable and highly capital intensive, requiring heavy investment in spare parts stock. It drained our resources and held the group back. I apologise that we weren’t clearer with staff — many thought it was making millions, but the reality was very different.

Productive discussion with @TauParks on the U.S.-SA economic and trade relationship. From AI to critical minerals, U.S. commercial leadership can be a major driver of growth and job creation in SA. 🇺🇸🇿🇦

@mfenguG2 I’m not talking about politicians. I’m specifically referring to political analysts - the self proclaimed experts who are supposed to possess deep technical knowledge in economics, law, and policy.

@mteton to be fair mteto the faults you have mentioned of the political analysts is exactly what politics is .....its not a science or engineering...to be successful in politics that's what they need to do

@luvkhum My observation is clear: the core issue isn’t narrow viewpoints. It’s the glaring lack of technical depth among self-proclaimed experts on economics, law, governance, and policy. They opine confidently on complex systems they barely understand.

Severe weather continues to disrupt electricity supply across the Western Cape. Eskom recovery teams face challenges due to flooding and unsafe conditions while working with Provincial Disaster Management. We urge your patience as we restore power. Thank you for your support.

@biccapital Let’s be clear: it’s called performance-based incentives. Eskom employees don’t get a guaranteed 13th cheque no matter what. They must earn their bonuses — exactly as it should be.

We identified these issues ourselves and have conducted thorough investigations. These matters are highly complex and require careful, detailed work — we will not rush them and risk making avoidable mistakes. That is not how the new leadership team at Eskom operates. We are comfortable with not being popular for taking this principled approach.

@mteton @MaxduPreez Well done and thank you! A concern though that red flags were raised a year ago, but despite that the dodgy tender continued…

Eskom management will conclude its full investigation this week. They will disclose details together with the harshest disciplinary actions. This includes suspensions, and criminal referrals to law enforcement. Zero tolerance for misconduct - accountability will be enforced without exception.
