This work started during my time with @kodiravi, who is an amazing mentor. The work evolved and blossomed into a wonderful international collaboration with @MDesai_Lab and @LarsVereecke who are fantastic collaborators. Huge thanks to the entire Anderson Lab and all co-authors!

Really surprisingly, we found that death-dependent purine containing metabolites (AMP, GMP, IMP), can act as accessory signals to re-wire E coli transcription to promote aerobic respiration and suppress anaerobic respiration, even when grown under aerobic conditions (17% O2)!
