@historicalive @metalsofficial Agree but different point. People speculate on many commodities without ever touching them. Metals.io is the same concept as traditional commodity markets offer just more accessible.

Introducing the new home for investing in multiple critical metals powering our future. Built by the team that pioneered uranium access and trading. Gold, uranium, and five strategic metals are now widely accessible with 24/7 access, fractional ownership, and physical backing.

@Anyone157 @metalsofficial And who says they'd want to buy an ETF? We live in a world where people buy the illusion of owning something. That changed with digital property and continues to be distorted.

It is the gas token it is always needed. Why should they talk about it. There is only one reason to talk about a layer 1 token (or most other tokens) and it is to pump the price. Build a great blockchain and get great apps on it and the demand for the currency of the ecosystem (gas token) will increase.

I've never even heard of half of these metals before. But if you want to invest in them, now you can. This thing is so...Tezos. I don't know how else to describe it. 😂 Get yer weird metals at metals.io 🤘
metals.io@metalsofficial

Gold, Uranium, Hafnium, Rhenium, Indium, Neodymium Oxide, and Praseodymium Oxide. Constrained supply, no substitutes, structural demand, previously reserved for institutions. Forge the future. The strategic metals powering our future are now widely accessible via metals.io. The strategic metals basket (hafnium, rhenium, indium, neodymium oxide, and praseodymium oxide) is not yet available in the EU, but we are actively working to bring it to you soon. Stay tuned.

No you don't. I know where you're thinking is but I believe you're wrong. If you make metals trade against XTZ you create too many hurdles and problems, therefore you will have zero demand and no benefits to XTZ. If you don't care about XTZ in terms of using it for the projects, then you have less hurdles and a more familiar experience for users. Which (in theory) leads to higher demand, which increases activity on the blockchain, which indirectly leads to increased demand for XTZ. I agree you need really high activity for that to have an impact but the other option (in my opinion) leads long term to zero demand.

@kaereste This is exactly the point (same problem with Solana). Most people don‘t care how permissionless or decentralized a blockchain (at least until they actually need it) but always claiming otherwise just destroys trust and gains nothing in the long run.

I wouldn’t mind Canton being what it is if it weren’t for takes like this. What „permissionless properties”? It is literally a permissioned system with three levels of access restrictions. If you’re dishonest about such obvious, straightforward facts, why should anyone trust you on the more nuanced stuff? After doing some digging, I think there are some interesting things in Canton - I need to write a bit longer piece on this soon - but these completely false claims look desperate and suggest that these guys don’t even value what they’ve built if they have to LARP as something they so clearly ain’t. Bearish.
Emmett | canton.network@Emmett_

What people will eventually realize is @CantonNetwork @solana and @ethereum have the same permissionless properties but only one of them have the privacy required to support regulated capital markets. There’s no denying institutions have to live in a multi-chain world but they are going to start where liquidity is deepest and has the lowest friction from architectural design, risk and compliance standpoints. This is why Canton is accelerating. Firms realize Canton provides the distribution for capital markets scale with compliance in a simple design. Maybe one day these transparent chains will figure out privacy and be able to support capital markets scale, but as of right now, only one chain can measure success in trillions… Canton.

@x3m6r9 As with any other layer1 currency people use liquid staking tokens…

If investors see a crash and are stuck in a 4-day staking period – 4 DAYS! – they will lose money, walk away and never come back. Of course, they’ll exit $XTZ if they expect a crash without a delay period, which makes the price volatile for a short while; however, they’ll then re-enter at a lower price and stay in. This uniqueness is the only and greatest advantage we have over the big players, and we are destroying it by adapting to the big players’ system without a chance of overtaking them. I told you this before the vote, you didn’t believe me, and now look at it. You are lazy, stupid and delusional. I have never seen a philosophically and mathematically worse decision than this in the entire space. @ArthurB I doubt you really know anything about philosophy; maths seems to be a long way off too. #Tezos $XTZ

@Anyone157 @metalsofficial How do you expect me to believe they have uranium if I can't order it from home? That is the fallacy of tokenization What better way to tokenize something than with something dangerous, so you never think about taking it out of the vault?

@Mark_Ska76 @ryangtanaka @TezosFoundation Like any other blockchain ecosystem, the only sustainable long term solution is actual, real usage coming from solid projects.

@Anyone157 @ryangtanaka But how should there be demand for XTZ with no real world usage? The 8% APY for staking can never compensate the loss the Token makes year for year. Voting rights? Who cares? Etherlink not. They and others make deals with @TezosFoundation without any XTZ.

@Mark_Ska76 @ryangtanaka Why would anyone buy xtz to buy metals? If you use XTZ you create one more friction. The goal of xtz is not to become the counter currency for trading pairs

It is on Etherlink, an enshrined Rollup of Tezos. The gas token on Etherlink is XTZ. Therefore, it has the same effect on XTZ as it would have if Metals.io would be on Layer 1 (maybe slightly less because the gas fees are lower, but in turn ifs faster and enables more use cases).

@ryangtanaka I don't know what you all expect from Tezos. But I expect the XTZ token to increase in value. However, it seems the XTZ token no longer plays a role for Tezos. Apparently, we're just financiers for the system without ever profiting from it.

The @Tezos Dashboard on The Tie Terminal just got more comprehensive. It now incorporates @Etherlink data alongside existing Tezos coverage, giving institutional clients a more complete view of the full ecosystem in one place: onchain metrics, token markets, real world assets, NFTs, and liquidity data. What it covers: - Onchain activity: weekly transactions, active addresses, TVL, stablecoin supply, and TPS across Tezos and Etherlink. - Ecosystem screener: XTZ market data + full token coverage including stablecoins and governance tokens. - Real world assets: tokenized uranium (xU3O8) wallet growth, onchain usage, and returns. - NFT markets: volume and activity across @fx_hash_, @objktcom, and @TeiaCommunity. - Liquidity: exchange-level depth, spreads, net flows, and volume across all major venues. Available now for all users of The Tie Terminal.

@sjdedic Or just don't fucking launch a token that is basically worthless. Only L1's need a token (with a few exceptions).

NYSE invests in OKX at a $25B valuation. Token FDV: $1.6B. Another example of token holders not getting what they deserve. Tokens need to become onchain equity asap, or we’re doomed.

$URNM still looking like prime opportunity. All about time horizons here. Over the next 6 - 12 months I don't think you'll find a nicer structural market to chill with exposure to.
