Mahipalpur in Delhi has around 150 hotels operating in very close proximity to each other. Fire safety cannot rely mainly on underpaid staff with poor (no) tools, stuck navigating Indian roads and street parking. Fire trucks are necessary and useful, but the first line of safety has to be inside buildings (alarms, sprinklers, exits, materials, and systems)

This man-made tragedy struck in Karawal Nagar (Delhi), bordering Ghaziabad. The JCB was not meant to bring down the building. It was digging a drain. Cracks appeared in the building. It was vacated and fell soon after. Note: Mainstream media underplayed the reason for this collapse, for obvious reasons.
