@MarkKersten @KenRoth And I am saying this as a person who respects those of you who speak on international justice. Treat this issue like any other...spreading media rags (quite frankly) is not how we lawyers usually work in ensuring an informed public, especially on legal issues.

@AshleyWaye @KenRoth To be fair, Ken said "reportedly". But I agree, it's not over, the reporting has been incredibly confusing, & there is no tribunal-like body. Moreover, the process is exceedingly political, w states highly engaged in the background to seek their preferred outcome. It's a mess.

Applying a standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt," a panel of judges appointed to review the evidence has reportedly cleared International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan of allegations of sexual misconduct. trib.al/zKByFLx

@MarkKersten @KenRoth But what is the point in spreading a report on a confidential process without verifying first? It seems like it bears more risk than anything else. I agree the process is a mess but I would say a panel blatantly overstepping its mandate is as much a threat as politics...

@Alonso_GD Wrong. The panel was neither a fact-finder nor a decision maker. Speaking publicly on issues you know little about harms the integrity of the process and is disappointing coming from someone who purports to uphold due process in international law: x.com/i/status/20375…
Ashley Waye@AshleyWaye

@KenRoth @MarkKersten It's important to report on issues you know and understand and ensure correctness of your reporting. No one has been cleared. The panel was not a decision maker and while composed of judges did not have the function of a tribunal. Also: linkedin.com/posts/ashleywa…

Ensuring fair processes for those seeking #accountability for sexual #misconduct at the #ICC is not at odds with Palestinians seeking accountability for crimes by Israel. Such suggestions promote divisiveness, create a false hierarchy of rights, and threaten "justice for all".

The witch hunt against Karim Khan, #ICCProsecutor, is over. He has been cleared of all charges of misconduct and must now resume full prosecution of Israeli and US crimes as well as other crimes. I stand ready to cooperate.

@FranceskAlbs I agree with almost everything you ever say, Francesca, but this statement is troubling. a) not cleared b) politicising a process that involves complaints of serious misconduct does not promote the victim-centred standards you stand for. A worthwhile read: globaljusticecenter.net/press/global-j…

BREAKING❗️ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan cleared of all charges of misconduct/breach of duty by a panel of 3 judges unanimously, beyond any reasonable doubt. The pro-Apartheid camp is already working to remove him ANYWAY: those who stand for justice must ensure this attempt fails.

Ottawa's $37 mil commitment to provide aid to Lebanon is good, but pales in comparison to its $78.8m contract for artillery propellants + $120.9m for F-35 components, which will go to the US & then on to Israel. Anand & most Liberals voted against closing the arms loophole.

This is big and the arguments put forward by the Netherlands and Iceland in relation to genocide in Gaza are compelling. South Africa’s case will be that much stronger as a result.

Canada condemns “attacks against civilians, civilian infrastructure, and UNIFIL personnel” in Lebanon, but won’t actually say who is waging those unacceptable attacks - which likely amount to war crimes. It’s the Israeli Defence Forces.
Foreign Policy CAN@CanadaFP

Canada is deeply alarmed by the dangerous escalations in Lebanon. We condemn attacks against civilians, civilian infrastructure, and UNIFIL personnel, which are unacceptable.

I was in Toronto last night to surprise my incredible mother, Michele Landsberg, as she received the Ursula Franklin award from Canadian Voice of Women for Peace. At this horrifying moment of war and cascading violence in the world, it was so powerful to be in a room full of legendary peace activists, and to hear this clarion call for a world of collaboration instead of violent competition. Ma - I'm unbelievably proud to be your son. You built my moral foundation, held firm by a fierce love for justice...and for each other. Happy IWD!

@NimerSultany @chamelons So making this about Western feminism misleading. If anything, men in power are abusing feminist values as a scapegoat for their violence. So let's not create more division where it isn't needed.

@NimerSultany @chamelons Is the Iranian diaspora western? Because in Canada, they overwhelmingly support the US/Israel attacks. In fact, a narrative is that western feminism is against the aggression which is seen by the Diaspora as an affront to the women of Iran who have tyrannised for decades.

Israel should have taken all feasible precautions to avoid or minimize the risks to civilians when targeting oil refineries. The information we are receiving from Iran does raise serious concerns as to whether such precautions were taken. The incidental harm to civilians, including the release of toxic substance, appears to indicate that too little precautions were taken and that the incidental harm to civilians is disproportionate. The scenes of catastrophe described by Iranians after Tehran's oil depots were bombed are yet another demonstration that ultimately, whatever they may say, the US and Israel's attacks on Iran are harming first and foremost civilians, including children. It is also opened to question whether oil refineries constitute military targets in the sense of being used solely to produce fuel for the armed forces. theguardian.com/world/2026/mar…

"The modern Olympic Truce starts one week before the main opening ceremony of the Olympic Games and ends one week after the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games." So is the USA still allowed to play in the Paralympics or is this another example of hegemonic exceptions?
