We are happy to share that our latest work on Drosophila melanogaster 🪰 and sleep is now out in @naturecomms!! Congrats to @VMariano3 , the whole team and all the @bagniLab. nature.com/articles/s4146…. Highlights in the thread.

Finally, we demonstrated that modulation of SREBP or the Malic enzyme was sufficient to ameliorate sleep deficits in Cyfip heterozygous flies. The work suggests modulation of the SREBP metabolic axis as a new avenue worth exploring for its therapeutic potential in sleep disorders

3. Furthermore, we showed that the over-activity of SREBP and one of its targets, the Malic enzyme, cause sleep deficits in Cyfip mutant flies via dysregulation of the brain NADP+/NADPH ratio.
