@RetireonDividen Revenue trumps debt. Revenue can pay for debt, but not the other way around.

I want to retire at 55 which is 12 years away. My kids will be 22 & 17 The only way my mortgage would be paid off by then is if I paid an additional $838.72 per month starting next year. My rate is 2.875% Would you go for the pay off or keep the mortgage into retirement?

To be fair, I remember the projected year was 2035 20 years ago, so we're pretty much on pace and still doing nothing about it. I remember when George W was in office and there was debate about offloading SS into the private sector and pretty much all the news networks called it treason. Retirees would've had 7.8x wealth than what they can look forward to now.

Is everyone paying attention? We have just SIX YEARS before Social Security is insolvent. Congress needs to stop burning money on fraud and crappy programs, balance the budget, and PROTECT Social Security so we can keep our promises to American seniors.

@codevsdev I started with a spiral bound book for BASIC. It's all clocks man. Gears on gears. Once you understand loops and iteration, the rest is jazz.

Worry not. Thinking about new, and having deeper conversations are possible. My generation was more focused on test taking and I've been re-learning through long discussions. You can tell AI to pretend to be Newton and discuss classical physics or discuss philosophy with Plato. Imperfect, but far, far more indepth than any class I attended and available anytime you have curiosity. There is much potential ahead.

@DataChaz What worries me most is slowly eroding our children's (and ours) ability to think critically. It feels like we are moving toward a place where we are all complacent and very gullible.

Here's a proposal: Confiscate every dollar of wealth above $10 million and redistribute it. Everyone gets roughly $100,000 once. Then what? The factories, businesses, investments, and productive capital that generated that wealth are damaged, sold off, or flee. Future investment collapses. Economic growth slows. The one time payout gets spent. Redistribution is a plan for consuming wealth. The real question isn't how to divide what exists today. It's how to create more tomorrow.

Starlink V3 satellites have >10X bandwidth of V2 and there’ll be >10X launched, which means >100X more bandwidth. Also, altitude will be 350km vs 550km, so min latency can be cut in half. Light travels 300km/ms in space, so physics round trip min latency drops to <5ms.

Wealth typically lasts three to five generations, commonly summarized by the phrase "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations." Studies show that roughly 70% of wealthy families lose their fortune by the second generation, and up to 90% lose it by the third. Old money is a very, very rare thing. Professional sports leagues produce more wealthy people than "old money" every year.

@kinginvestings Yeah, the ones I know who did that were farmers. They spent all year, toiling in the dirt for one paycheck at the sale barn. I don't think you have the grit for that.

Water usage in data centers really is the fakest issue I’ve seen in a long, long time
Alex Volkov@altryne

.@satyanadella just put the whole "water" debate to rest. Datacenters run on a closed loop cooling system, the water usage of a datacenter for an entire year is roughly equivalent to a usage of 1 restaurant!

@NeoliberalAkiho It's a lack of understanding (or propaganda) of the innovation multiplier. There's a reason we don't use stone tools to make electric cars.

@MatrixMysteries That's how interest works. Nominal extra monthly payments would have erased a huge chunk of interest down the road.

An American borrows $40,000 for college. Years later, the balance is $118,305.59. That’s not total paid — that’s what’s STILL owed. $77,383.59 is PURE interest. The loan didn’t fund an education. It funded a lifetime of payments.

@CBoneuvre @CryptoTice_ Some quick points: * Percent fees really add up on big purchases when you swipe a card. * I should be allowed to buy anything legally for sale in the manner acceptable to the seller. *The obvious workaround is 2 payments, so this solves nothing.

BREAKING: The EU just banned cash payments over €10,000. And will require ID for all Bitcoin transactions starting 2027. The same EU that's losing the stablecoin war to America. The same EU whose German Chancellor called it a "world champion of over-regulation." Is now tracking every Bitcoin transaction above a certain threshold. Cash banned above €10,000. Bitcoin requires ID. Gold can still be bought anonymously. The EU isn't fighting financial crime. It's fighting financial freedom. While America proposes zero capital gains on Bitcoin. While UAE builds crypto banks with zero restrictions. Europe is building a financial surveillance state. And calling it consumer protection. 2027 is closer than it sounds.

@BernieSanders I also think we could come up with some great solutions together, but stopping progress on this is not good. AI has been saving lives, making discoveries, and quite frankly, putting in time with people that others have abandoned. I'll always be happy to help.

70% of Americans think AI is moving too fast. 77% think entire industries will be eliminated. 97% say AI safety should be subject to rules. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time Congress listened to the American people — not just the billionaires pushing it — and regulated AI.
