@DrSerunjogiEmma @LeratoMannya I had a great bond with my father and when he was sick I was right there through his recovery. I was even hesitant to go back to work when he was better. He took care of me so obviously I would want to take care of him.

I have worked on old men in their 70+ and women in 70+ Most men in 70s I have seen coming to the hospital are always alone, forgotten and sad. Be it poor or rich, most of them are always without anyone to take care of them. The truth is men die alone and it's sad. Old women on the other hand will be escorted by over 3+ caretakers, daughters, sons, grandsons and granddaughters. Even on just outpatient visits. This old man came for surgery only with his belongings, we had to probe until a daughter came around. And if you gave birth to only boys it's worse!!! Let's learn to take care of our Fathers.

@BennArrington I’m not sure epidurals are covered by Medicaid so keep that in mind. Also, homebirth midwives are $5-8k.

My pregnant wife and I are seriously considering getting divorced so she'll qualify for Medicaid to pay for the birth and I can afford insurance for myself. I'm not even fucking joking.

I recommend taking a supplement with multiple types of magnesium (citrate, glycinate, malate, etc). And a recommended dose is about 400-600 mg daily or as needed. Let me know if it helps! I know it helped me!

Did you know morning sickness can be caused by magnesium deficiency? In early pregnancy, as progesterone increases, magnesium decreases. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness, muscle cramps, insomnia. Restoring your magnesium levels may help

@fionasmalls @MotherhoodGroup I’m sorry you asked how. It’s a ceremony at the end of postpartum to close back up your body after birth which has left it open. They wrap you head to toe in binds and it’s like a giant hug. And of course there’s a ceremonial part but signifies the end of your pregnancy journey.

@fionasmalls @MotherhoodGroup I studied with indigenous midwives in Ecuador plus I’ve had several South America clients looking for someone to do this.

@realchloenicole Apparently, we aren’t that great at helping women through pregnancy and definitely not after. Otherwise suicide probably wouldn’t be the leading cause of death and these are for stats prior to the abortion bans. Motherhood is hard in many ways and women deserve to choose it.

If you prefer to avoid having a cervical exam at your prenatal appointment, have a discussion with your provider while wearing your clothes. You have more power when you aren't in a paper sheet.

Having a cervical exam at your 36 week appointment is not only optional, in most cases it's pointless.

My heartbreaks to think about how forced birth is going to contribute to these numbers. Parenthood (particularly without support) is so hard and truly takes a toll. I wish that postpartum planning was equally thought about as often as creating a birth plan or having a doula.

Today I am shipping off the last few boxes of our Postpartum Cookbook and our Postpartum Mental Health Workbook for Prego Expo LA. I’m so proud to admit that we have given away over 4,000 copies of each of these booklets this year. DM if you’d a free copy 🥰

@d_asante_ There are moments in pregnancy were you have to make hard chooses. I met plenty of moms who couldnt hold down even water for days but prefer the risk of thc to zofran. It’s a preference. Please remember that prescription drugs have their own risks too and being pregnant is hard.

@HeidiMurkoff @bookclub022 Fair enough, I didn’t realize. I probably have only come across past editions but in these issues I found they are very one perspective and usually don’t fit my clientele. Obstetric violence is important and needs be brought to peoples awareness before birth trauma happens.

@BirthXapp @bookclub022 Hi, I actually update the book several times a year, even within each new edition so you may have seen an outdated version. My mission of supporting and empowering moms has stayed the same (sounds similar to yours!), but research and best practices are always evolving. 💜

If you believe people deserve choice in birth and the ability to choice what happens to their body during labor (like pain relief) then technically you believe in bodily autonomy which also includes the choice to not bare the burden of carrying a child if they don’t want to.

It’s a confusing time to be fighting for #birthjustice…part of me feels the pro-choice movement could use all the help it can get, the other part realizes that teaching people how to advocate for themselves during pregnancy and birth is more important than ever. Either way…
