Eh that's overstating it. I bet you're basing it off the "Irish need not apply" exaggeration. SOME job listings did that, but very few in comparison to the totality if published newspapers with jobs lsitings, and there was definitely anti Irish sentiment in some areas of the culture. But there's very little meaningful evidence that the Irish were considered on the same level as blacks at the time. Most racists of the day would have preferred Irish to blacks 9 outta 10 times.
