On August 27, 1992, as Hurricane Andrew's outer bands whipped through Tupelo, Mississippi, 13-year-old Leigh Occhi faced a nightmare that still haunts investigators.
It was the first time her mother, Vickie Felton, left the cheerful eighth-grader home alone at their house on Honey Locust Drive. Leigh, still in pajamas, planned to attend a school open house with her grandmother later that morning.
Vickie headed to work around 8:00 a.m. Soon after, warned of approaching storm remnants, she called home no answer. Alarmed, she rushed back, arriving to find the garage door open, lights on, and blood smeared on a wall inside.
Leigh's favorite blanket lay crumpled in her bedroom. No sign of the girl. Vickie called 911 around 9:00 a.m.
A massive search unfolded, but heavy rain and wind hampered bloodhounds. Two weeks later, an anonymous package arrived: Leigh's broken, blood-stained eyeglasses, mailed to the family.
The case remains unsolved over 33 years later. Leigh was declared legally dêâd in 2024, yet Tupelo Police, with FBI and state help, continue investigating including a 2025 search near the former home.
No arrests have been made, and her fate stays a chilling mystery.

Just mere hours after TMZ dropped this raw video on March 19, 2026 (actual incident was on February 17, 2023), ABC CANCELED Taylor Frankie Paul’s entire new season of The Bachelorette! In this footage, you can see her physically attacking her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, AND NOT CARING THAT THEIR DAUGHTER INDY (only 5 years old at the time) was right there on the couch! 😡 You can hear Indy crying as Dakota yells on the audio, “This is called physical abuse” and “Your daughter just got hit.” It’s staggering to think how much longer this could have continued had it not been for video footage.

It almost killed me.
