Slafkovsky is on pace to break 70 points which is a big jump in production for him, but the average forward would be on pace for 80 pts w/ his deployment (and the avg 21 year old would be on pace for 72).
MTL is stacked offensively, but Slaf is more passenger than play driver.

@yolo_pinyato Young players have a higher development curve. He is above the curve. You're data is behind.
This is why statistical modeling only gets you so far. His last 45 games need to be weighed heavily.

@BrucePSmith amazing, and I'm sure if I only isolated every players best stretch of the season I'm sure the player rankings would be significantly different but I'm making the unfortunate mistake of taking every players entire season into account and weighting recent results more.

Looking at a jfresh card and pulling a few clips to form an opinion is about as much as ppl do.

Adding to this, despite his size, Caufield is surpringly good along the boards. This part of his game may be the thing he has most improved on since his early years where he'd quit on pucks to avoid contact. His game has evolved monumentally, but public perception has lagged.
