@koshercockney The key and red triangle are hate symbols aimed at Jews and Israelis in particular. Maybe nazi symbols should be used to welcome people in German neighborhoods and Klan symbols in white neighborhoods. Surely they are only to be interpreted as "White pride" and "German pride".

The revival of the Judean date palm is one of the most significant achievements in archaeobotany. The project began with the discovery of ancient seeds during excavations at King Herod’s palace on Masada and other sites in the Judean Desert. In 2005, a 2,000-year-old seed nicknamed "Methuselah" was successfully germinated, marking the first time a plant from this era had been brought back to life. These seeds remained viable for two millennia due to the intense heat and extreme aridity of the Dead Sea region, which acted as a natural preservation chamber. Beyond the biological miracle, this project has allowed scientists to study the genetic makeup of a fruit that was world-renowned in antiquity for its size, sweetness, and medicinal qualities. By germinating multiple seeds, researchers were able to grow both male and female trees, eventually leading to cross-pollination. In 2020, this resulted in the first harvest of ancient dates in over eight centuries. DNA analysis shows that these trees were a sophisticated hybrid of Eastern and Western palm varieties, suggesting that ancient Judean farmers used highly advanced agricultural techniques to create their legendary crops. One crucial detail missing is the specific cultural and economic impact these palms had on the ancient world; they were so vital to the regional identity that the Roman Empire featured the tree on "Judaea Capta" coinage to symbolize their conquest of the land. These dates were a luxury export across the Mediterranean, praised by writers like Pliny the Elder for their distinct honey-like flavor and ability to be stored for years without spoiling. The destruction of these groves during the Jewish-Roman wars and subsequent climate shifts led to their total disappearance by the 14th century, making their modern "resurrection" not just a botanical feat, but the recovery of a lost cultural icon that sustained entire economies in the ancient Levant. #archaeohistories

There were no illustrations for the New York Times’ fawning review of Molly Crabapple’s book on the Bundists, the inspiration for the Peter Beinart types of today, so I took the liberty of adding some. The Bundists were wrong and dumb when they spent the decades leading up to the Holocaust fighting Zionism, telling people that the lands that would soon build crematoria to incinerate their used-up bodies were their true homeland. But they couldn’t see the future. They mostly paid with their lives, at the hands of Stalin or the Third Reich. But the neo-Bundists—happily, a tiny and irrelevant fraction today, though they are the New York Times’ favourite Jews—don’t have the excuse of ignorance. They know that many leaders of the Bund who weren’t slaughtered in Stalin’s purges were killed in the Holocaust. They know that Bundism was thus repudiated in the most visceral possible way. Not only did they mostly get themselves killed, but the people who bought their philosophy mostly paid for it with their lives and those of their children. The more you were a Zionist in pre-war Europe, the more likely you were to make it to 1945. So the neo-Bundists aren’t just wrong and stupid like the Bundists, they are truly sinister. But to actually name the book “Here, Where We Live, Is Our Country” after the famous slogan that encapsulates the ironic and blood-soaked repudiation of their mission, is to say to their fellow Jews in 2026: we hate Zionism so much that even the Holocaust doesn’t make us flinch; nothing at all is worse than Jewish self-determination. It’s a sort of virtue signal to their bigoted friends, an act of sick trolling. There will always be people like Crabapple and Beinart and their little cult of hand-wringing, self-congratulatory bores, but the New York Times plumbs new depths with this fawning review.

We're drowning in a sea of antisemitism — yet some Jews are diving in deeper. Tony Greenstein — son of a rabbi, raised Orthodox — calls Israel "Hitler's bastard offspring," equates it to Nazi racial purity, and now faces charges for allegedly supporting Hamas. The Green Party just welcomed him with open arms anyway. This isn't "anti-Zionism." It's the same old hatred, wearing a progressive mask. The upside-down world continues. paywall-free 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04/0…

@koshercockney Bridgewater is 10% Muslim. Note the "key" in Palestine and the red triangle. I think "Little Palestine" would be a wonderful place for the Arabs of Gaza and the West Bank to immigrate to. Live a Jew free life, leave Israel.

Zionism must be destroyed. The ideology of Zionism is a perverted, irreligious view and its aim is to introduce a nationalist belief instead of destroying Judaism. Zionism is never Judaism. There is no Zionism in the Jewish faith. We pray for the immediate disintegration of Israel, the fake state established by the Zionists. Judaism does not need a state.

It’s a great question. Jew hatred is often referred to as the world’s oldest hatred. I’ve heard a number of theories but I don’t believe there’s any universal answer. Are people jealous of the perceived success of Jews? Are we an easy target because we’ve always been a small minority? Perhaps some people need to hate, and we’re a familiar target for them. Which bodes the question I’ve asked often - if the people who want to wipe us out are ever successful, who would they turn their hate to next?
Jumpy #ItsTimeToGo@Jump5312

@rich_toronto I do not have background in organized religion, my family was just spiritual. I have wondered through my decades of life why Jews have been repeatedly persecuted. Why is that? Is there a relatively simple explanation? I would welcome a frank discussion

@BriannaWu Yes, absolutely throw away the staunchest ally the US has in the oil rich middle east. You can certainly rely on ??? as the Russians rush in to exert hegemony over the easily led by the nose Arab states. Jew hatred takes many forms, includingy self delusion.

Noah is my friend, but I have to push back on this. One really clear example of why he’s wrong is the recently uncovered assessment of Iran’s nuclear weapon program. It was approaching capabilities to strike the UK. Is the West safer with a force multiplier in the region, keeping America’s enemies in check? That answer is clearly yes. It’s also worth saying that if America ended our relationship with Israel, they would form an alliance with China, Russia or India. Then they would be determining what happens in the Middle East and reaping the benefits of technology and intelligence sharing. This would be catastrophic for American soft and hard power.
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion

For what it's worth, I think America should cancel its alliance with Israel, which is obviously a bad and unhelpful ally. But unlike leftists and rightists, I don't actually think canceling it will fix any of our fundamental problems, or help people in Gaza.

“What does Judaism look like without Zionism?” If you are Henryk Erlich, the subject of the book review, you will be betrayed. Despite being the founder of the Jewish Bund and a fervent Polish communist, he was sentenced by the Soviets to death for allegedly collaborating with the Nazis. He was then released to help create the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee (JAC), which Joseph Stalin concocted to exploit international Jewish solidarity in aid of the Soviet Union. But because Stalin believed Erlich was a little too devoted to Jewish solidarity, he was rearrested, tortured, and executed in 1942. “Judaism without Zionism” could also look like Erlich’s father-in-law, the famed Jewish historian and intellectual Simon Dubnow. Dubnow was critical of both communism and Zionism as solutions to the Jewish problem. He called Zionism “a beautiful messianic dream” that was unrealistic and predicted Israel would have no more than 500K people I the year 2000. Dubnow fled Russia after the Bolsheviks seized power, then moved on to Latvia as the Nazis rose. When the Nazis entered Riga in 1940, they sent him to the ghetto. He was scheduled to be transported to the forest and massacred along with 34,000 other Latvian Jews. Before he could board the transport, the 81-year-old Dubnow was murdered by Latvian Nazi collaborators. Dubnow’s daughter and Erlich’s wife, Sophia Dubnow Erlich, was once courted by Ze’ev Jabotinsky, who would later become the leader of the Revisionist right within the Zionist movement. He survived. While most of Erlich’s family was murdered in the Holocaust, one of his brothers made it to Palestine before the war. He survived. Jewish antizionist content is a peculiar genre. It lionizes historic failures of Jewish Bundists, while ignoring the incredible success of Zionism. One movement led Jews to be enslaved by Bolshevism while the other saved and liberated them.
