Any work sent home or completed on a computer will be done by AI and chatbots The only option is hand written, old-fashioned tests and essays now

Nothing says “Happy First Day of Standardized Testing” than a glitch that doesn’t allow students with accommodations to log in.

@CallahanLuke Correct that's why I'm saying better lesson design is the answer not tech to block things. Handwriting though isn't better lesson design, it's avoiding the problem.

If students are bypassing Google's Originality reports and the Revision History extension, it makes sense to step back & focus on in-class writing (pencil/paper) or having Ss write in a structured digital environment (lab) where teachers can observe writing in real time.

@NoStressTech It would do us all good to take a step back. When there aren't enough tech tools to keep up, we can either keep chasing our tails or adjust practice. Ss can type in rows in a lab, use Google Forms (locked mode), or use paper/pencil. We can't add a 56th extension/tool to the kit.

@CallahanLuke You do this and then you risk alienating teachers who now have to decipher handwriting and now it takes longer for a feedback loop and grading. The answer instead is change the assignment structure to avoid bypasses.

2 weeks without smartphone internet significantly improved sustained attention. The effects were similar to being a decade younger.

Ave person checks their phone 186x a day. That's an interruption every 5 min. This shrinks the brain, causing lost capacity for deep reasoning and sustained thought. Deep focus strengths neural networks for complex thought.
