@AriFleischer @zriboua This is a super low IQ take. Strait is tiny. Tankers are huge. Commercial drones + WW2 level artillery is all Iran needs.

@zriboua What are you talking about? The strait is tiny. Tankers are huge. They could hit them with commercial drone spotting and WW2 artillery

On the Strait of Hormuz: I said it before and I will say it again: Iran’s move to weaponize the Strait of Hormuz ranks among its most strategically reckless decisions. They cannot sustain control over it. Their military position does not allow for prolonged enforcement against determined opposition. More importantly, it was never a credible bargaining chip. Once escalated, it has to be relinquished without meaningful concessions. The only asset that has ever carried real negotiating weight is the nuclear program. The logic behind the move is also flawed. The expectation was to trigger a global economic shock large enough to force a halt in U.S. operations. That outcome has not materialized. Instead, it has accelerated the opposite dynamic. Regional and global actors are now investing in routes and infrastructure designed to bypass the Strait altogether. In trying to turn Hormuz into leverage, Iran is diminishing its long-term strategic value. Very stupid of IRGC.

🇿🇦 South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says that the country will not abandon its DEI policies, known as “Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).” “Those who say BEE and affirmative action must stop are just dreaming,” he said. South Africa has strict laws that mandate race-based hiring practices. A new law called the Employment Equity Amendment Act sets hiring targets for 2025–2030 across 18 economic sectors. Some workforce targets aim for 90–96% of employees to come from designated groups, which include Black people, women, and people with disabilities (minimum 3%). That means that if a company has more than 5% white men, it could face penalties of up to 10% of its income.

@visegrad24 In a country of 86% Africans yet 90% managerial positions are still occupied by boeremags... BEE is a small step in the right direction to redress. Yet europeans are against it, apartheid nostalgia makes it difficult for y'all to comprehend this!

Elon Musk
Elon Musk@elonmusk·
South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?

when spacex was getting started, the first and last men to walk on the moon testified before congress against it. gene cernan told congress commercial space companies "do not yet know what they don't know." he said the boeings and lockheed martins were "the folks who have been working on everything we've done for the last 50 years. they know how it can be done." neil armstrong said he was "not confident" the newcomers could achieve their goals. together with jim lovell they warned it would put america on "a long downward slide to mediocrity." spacex now launches more rockets than every country on earth combined. the experts will always tell you it can't be done. build it anyway!

The futures price for Brent crude is around $109/bbl. But physical oil is trading closer to $145/bbl. THAT'S AN UNSUALLY LARGE PRICE GAP. THE FUTURES MARKET WILL EVENTUALLY BE MUGGED BY REALITY, AND THE GAP WILL BE CLOSED.

"You look at the United States in terms of culture and our economy is the biggest in the world, the most productive in the world... It's the greatest producer of oil/gas in the history of civilization & this week sends a spacecraft on the longest ever mission & then it is negotiating with this country that everybody thought was crazy w/ missiles. People said we've got to give them pallets of cash. And now we've just flattered in them in 5 weeks at cost of 13 soldiers & $50/60 billion of munitions ... which is a fraction of the fraud in California. What country in the history of civilization, all at the same time, could spend so much effort & men to save one life & send people to the far side of moon & decimate the powerhouse of the Middle East without breaking a sweat? This doom & gloom I don't get it at all. I think we are at the edge of a renaissance with AI, cyber, & genetic engineering. It's a very exciting time. The only depressing thing is we don't have two political parties. The Republican party is now the populist party. And we have this unhinged, Marxist, Socialist... I don't know what it is that believes in 3 or 26 genders, open borders. They don't live in the same reality ... They have lost their complete minds."
